Year-by-year records
Recall history
1 distinct campaigns affect this selection. Announcement dates below are different from vehicle model years. A campaign may cover multiple years.
06V338000 · Steering:Linkages:Tie Rod Assembly
Reported: 2006-09-08 (September 8, 2006) · Model years: 2005
CERTAIN MOTOR HOMES BUILT ON FREIGHTLINER CHASSIS MAY HAVE BEEN MANUFACTURED WITH TIE RODS THAT ARE TOO SHORT FOR THE FRONT AXLE CROSSBAR TAPER. THE RESULTING GAP BETWEEN THE CROSSBAR AND TIE ROD END MAY RESULT IN CORROSION BETWEEN THE 2 PIECES. LACK OF MAINTENANCE WOULD INCREASE THE POSSIBILITY OF CORROSION.
Consequence: EXCESSIVE CORROSION OVER TIME COULD CAUSE THE CROSSBAR TO TIE ROD CONNECTION TO FAIL, CAUSING A LACK OF STEERING CONTROL AND POTENTIAL CRASH.
Remedy: FREIGHTLINER IS CONDUCTING THIS RECALL. DEALERS WILL INSPECT THE TIE ROD AND REPLACE IT IF NECESSARY WITH A LONGER TIE ROD ASSEMBLY. IF THE TIE ROD IS REPLACED, A TOE-IN ALIGNMENT PROCEDURE WILL ALSO BE PERFORMED. OWNERS MAY CONTACT FREIGHTLINER AT 800-385-4357 OR ALFA LEISURE AT 800-373-3372.

Emerging complaint spikes
Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.
This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.
No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.
Equal-age model-year comparison
Model-wide cumulative reports during the first three or five calendar years, starting with the model year (age 0). Only fully elapsed windows are compared.
2005: 3 complaints · 2006: 1 complaints

Date coverage across each selected cohort

|---|---|---|---|
| 2005 | 7 | 0 | 0 |
| 2006 | 1 | 0 | 0 |
Incident date is preferred when valid and no later than filing; otherwise filing date is used. Model year approximates age. Equal observation time does not adjust for sales, distance driven or reporting delays. One complaint linked to multiple model years can appear in each cohort.
