Recall history
3 distinct campaigns affect this selection. Announcement dates below are different from vehicle model years. A campaign may cover multiple years.
77V061000 · Structure
Reported: 1977-04-28 (April 28, 1977) · Model years: 1977
THE INVOLVED VEHICLES DO NOT CONFORM TO FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NO. 301, "FUEL SYSTEM INTEGRITY". WHEN SUBJECTED TO A 30 M.P.H. FIXED BARRIER COLLISION TEST, THE FRAME SIDE RAILS COLLAPSED AND THE BRACKETRY ATTACHED TO ONE OF THE RAILS SUPPORTING THE FUEL ASSEMBLY RUPTURED OR PUNCTURED THE FUEL TANK. THIS COULD ALLOW EXCESSIVE FUEL SPILLAGE.
Remedy: DEALER WILL REMOUNT THE FUEL TANK TO THE BODY FLOOR PAN AND STRUCTURE, AND SHIELD THE FRAME REINFORCEMENT TO PREVENT PENETRATION.
NHTSA campaign record ↗77V126000 · Steering: Steering Wheel/Handle Bar
Reported: 1977-08-19 (August 19, 1977) · Model years: 1977
ON THE INVOLVED VEHICLES, THE STEERING WHEEL RETAINER NUT AND BOTH ENDS OF THE INTERMEDIATE STEERING SHAFT ASSEMBLY UNIVERSAL JOINT RETAINING HARDWARE (CONSISTING OF THE PINCH BOLT AND NUTS), MAY NOT HAVE BEEN TIGHTENED TO SPECIFICATIONS. THIS WOULD ALLOW THE NUTS TO LOOSEN AND GRADUALLY BACK OFF.
Remedy: DEALER WILL TIGHTEN ALL SUSPECT NUTS TO CORRECT SPECIFICATIONS, WITHOUT CHARGE TO OWNER.
NHTSA campaign record ↗77V152000 · Exterior Lighting
Reported: 1977-09-20 (September 20, 1977) · Model years: 1977
THE INVOLVED VEHICLES ARE IN NON-COMPLIANCE TO FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NO. 108, "LAMPS, REFLECTIVE DEVICES, AND ASSOCIATED EQUIPMENT", DUE TO OMISSION OF REAR REFLEX REFLECTORS.
Remedy: THE DEALER WILL INSTALL THE NECESSARY REAR REFLEX REFLECTORS, FREE OF CHARGE, ON ALL AFFECTED VEHICLES.

Darker cells indicate a larger share of submitted complaints. Components overlap. This measures complaint composition, not failure probability.
Failure mileage by component

Emerging complaint spikes
Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.
This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.
No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.
Equal-age model-year comparison
Model-wide cumulative reports during the first three or five calendar years, starting with the model year (age 0). Only fully elapsed windows are compared.

Date coverage across each selected cohort
| Year | Incident dates used | Filing date fallbacks | Excluded dates |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1977 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
Incident date is preferred when valid and no later than filing; otherwise filing date is used. Model year approximates age. Equal observation time does not adjust for sales, distance driven or reporting delays. One complaint linked to multiple model years can appear in each cohort.
Components reported together
