I STARTED TO EXPERIENCE 2 ISSUES WITH MY STEERING ON THE 2013 AUDI S4 WHEN THE CAR HAD ABOUT 800 MILES ON IT AND THE ISSUE GOES ON AND OFF. THE CAR EQUIPPED WITH AUDI DRIVE SELECT CONTROLS AND THE ISSUE IS MORE PREVALENT IN COMFORT MODE, HOWEVER ALSO CAN BE FELT IN DYNAMIC (HOWEVER STEERING IS MORE TIGHT IN DYNAMIC). 1. DEAD CENTER AND DISCONNECTED FEEL - WHEN STEERING WHEEL IS POINTED STRAIGHT AT 12 O'CLOCK THERE SEEM TO BE "DEAD" ZONE A FEW DEGREES TO EACH SIDE THAT CREATES A FEEL THAT STEERING IS COMPLETELY DISCONNECTED. IN NUMEROUS INCIDENTS SINCE PURCHASING MY 2013 AUDI S4 I HAVE HAD TWO DIFFERENT STEERING RELATED SAFETY ISSUES. THE FIRST WAS DISCOVERED WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT 65MPH WHEN MY CAR WAS VERY NEW WITH ONLY 1000 MILES ON IT. WHILE HOLDING THE WHEEL IN TWO HANDS AT 12 O'CLOCK THE STEERING WHEEL "SLIPPED" ABOUT A HALF INCH TO AN INCH AND THEN GRABBED AGAIN. THIS CAUSED THE CAR TO DRIFT SLIGHTLY TO THE LEFT, TO WHICH I MADE A SLIGHT CORRECTION BACK TO THE RIGHT WITH THE WHEEL, UPON DOING SO, THE WHEEL "SLIPPED" AGAIN AND GRABBED AFTER A HALF…

Emerging complaint spikes
Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.
This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.
No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.

Incident date is preferred when valid and no later than filing; otherwise filing date is used. Model year approximates age. Equal observation time does not adjust for sales, distance driven or reporting delays. One complaint linked to multiple model years can appear in each cohort.
