Emerging complaint spikes

Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.

This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.

No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.

Equal-age model-year comparison

Model-wide cumulative reports during the first three or five calendar years, starting with the model year (age 0). Only fully elapsed windows are compared.

Incident date is preferred when valid and no later than filing; otherwise filing date is used. Model year approximates age. Equal observation time does not adjust for sales, distance driven or reporting delays. One complaint linked to multiple model years can appear in each cohort.

I OWN A 2000 AUDI TT AND THE AUDI DEALER SERVICE CONFIRMS THAT THE TT'S INSTRUMENT PANEL HAS AN INTERNAL PROBLEM WHICH REQUIRES REPLACEMENT OF THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER AT A COST ESTIMATE OF $1193.13. THE TT HAS A KNOWN INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FAILURE PROBLEM AND AUDI HAS PROVIDED RELIEF TO OWNERS REGARDING THE INSTRUMENT FAILURE IN BOTH THE UK AND THE US. THE CAR HAS LESS THAN 75,000 MILE ON IT AND INSTRUMENT FAILURE AT THIS LOW MILEAGE IS UNACCEPTABLE. AUDI SAYS THE CAR IS OUT OF WARRANTY AND THEY WOULD DO NOTHING, WHICH SEEMS LIKE A RIDICULOUS RES…

The contact owned a 2000 Audi TT. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 01V325000 (Suspension); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, there was a loud squeaking sound coming from the rear of the vehicle. There was no warning light illuminated. 1. THE EVENTS LEADING UP THE FAILURE INCLUDED A 60,000 MILE CHECK UP AND A DISCUSSION ABOUT CHECKING OUT THE TIMING BELT AS PART OF THE SERVICE. THE AUTHORIZED AUDI DEALER REPLIED THAT AUDI DOES NOT RECOMMEND CHECKING OR CHANGING THE TIMING BELT UNTIL 67,000 MILES. 2. AT 67,000 MILES, THE TIMING BELT WENT OUT CAUSING THE POWER STEERING TO GO OUT AND MY CAR TO DIE. IF I HAD BEEN TURNING AT A BUSY INTERSECTION, I WOULD HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY INJURED OR KILLED. TAKING IT TO THE DEALER, I HAVE FOUND THAT THERE IS $5000+ IN DAMAGES DONE TO THE ENGI…
