Owner report 11282705 · 2019-11-27 (November 27, 2019)

MY 2015 BMW 328I X DRIVE LEFT TURN SIGNAL AND LEFT BRAKE HAVE MALFUNCTIONED SINCE I BOUGHT THE CAR. THE SAME THING HAPPEN IN MY MOTHER'S BMW 328 SERIES AS WELL AND A RECALL WAS OPEN. THERE IS A OPEN RECALL ON THE BRAKE LIGHT AND TURN SIGNALS BUT NOT FOR MY ACTUAL VEHICLE. I HAVE REPLACED THE BULBS SO I KNOW IT IS SOMETHING ELECTRICAL. BMW REFUSES TO FIX THE PROBLEM ALTHOUGH IT IS A KNOWN RECALL! I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED, AND JUST WANT MY LIGHT PANEL REPAIRED AS THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE BY BMW MANUFACTURERS NOT THE OWNER.

DRIVER'S DOOR AND FRONT PASSENGER'S DOOR WILL NOT OPEN WITH THE INTERIOR DOOR LEVER. THIS IS AN INTERMITTENT PROBLEM THAT CAN HAPPEN ONCE A MONTH OR ONCE A WEEK. LOCK KNOB ON THE DOOR POPS UP AND THEN BACK DOWN WHEN USING THE LEVER. THE ONLY WAY TO UNLOCK THE DOOR IS TO PRESS THE DASH DOOR LOCK BUTTON. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AS ALL BMW'S HAVE AN AUTOMATIC BATTERY DISCONNECT IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT; THEREFORE THERE WOULD BE NO WAY TO EXIT THE VEHICLE! I SPOKE TO THE LOCAL BMW SERVICE AGENT AND HE SAID THEY KNEW OF THE PROBLEM BUT IT WA…

I WAS INVOLVED IN A CAR ACCIDENT INVOLVING FAILURE FOR THE CAR TO BRAKE PROPERLY AND REVING UP AFTER BEING ALMOST AT A COMPLETE STOP. I WAS DRIVING ON A TWO LANE ROAD AT APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH BEFORE NEEDING TO STOP. I APPLIED MY BRAKES AT A REASONABLE DISTANCE TO STOP FOR THE TRAFFIC AHEAD FOR A TRAFFIC LIGHT. IT WAS NOT A SUDDEN STOP OR TAILGATING SITUATION. I APPLIED MY BRAKES AND THE CAR CAME TO A STOP OR VERY NEAR STOP APPROXIMATELY 18 INCHES FROM THE REAR BUMPER OF THE CAR AHEAD OF ME. LUCKILY, WE WERE IN THE LANE CLOSEST TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND WE WERE ABLE TO LIMP OFF THE ROAD AND OUT OF TRAFFIC. THE CAR WAS TOWED TO THE NEAREST BMW DEALER IN LAS VEGAS WHERE THE PROBLEM WAS DETERMINED TO BE A FAILED HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP. THE CAR HAS LESS THAN 17,000 MILES. The parking brake cable bracket is a cheap piece of plastic that fails on every single BMW model like mine from this era, which means the parking brake cable comes in contact with the drive shaft. Mine has broken. Dealers charge $1,100 to replace with an equally cheap 30 dollar plastic bracket. Replacement is labor intensive which explains the high fee (I guess). BMW mechanics as well as BMW owner internet forums tell me that this fails on every single car. This is a real hazard, as it can cause parking brake failure and drive shaft damage. O…

Virtually all parking brake cable attachment clips fail on this BMW product years 2012 to 2019. Complaints are easy to find online. My 2015 BMW 328i has a broken "plastic" parking brake cable bracket. It breaks so often on the BMW lineup of cars that businesses have made better work-arounds to fix the problem than a plastic part. A fantastic video explain it can be found at AGATools.com search BMW parking brake. It is on Youtube as well. Sometimes the warning will clear itself after waiting a few minutes, but it might come back after a few minutes driving or not. In other instances, the drivetrain will not clear itself and will take more than a few hours. Took it to the repair shop 3 times and they indicated it could be the fuel pump modular or spark plugs or it could just be that the heat is messing up the software system. On BMW there is a consistent problem with the oil filter housing gasket leaking oil which runs down and gets on the V-belt causing slipping that affects power steering. It is common problem for the emergency brake plastic clip to brake and cause the emergency brake cable that runs above the drive shaft to scrape the driveshaft, causing the cable to wear out and cause premature failure of the emergency brake.

TWO HOURS LATER I RESTARTED IT AND ALL THE ERROR WARNINGS DISAPPEARED AND THE CAR IS RUNNING NORMALLY AGAIN.

I PULLED INTO MY LONG NARROW DRIVEWAY (ABOUT 100 FEET) SLOWLY AT ABOUT 3 MPH. I LET THE CAR GO BY ITS MOMENTUM AND LIGHTLY PRESSED ON THE BRAKE SO IT COULD COME TO A COMPLETE STOP. WHEN THE CAR APPROXIMATELY ABOUT 7 FEET FROM THE FRONT OF THE GARAGE, IT ACCELERATED SUDDENLY AND SMASHED THROUGH THE FRONT DOOR AND PART OF THE GARAGE. I PUT MORE PRESSURE ON THE BRAKE, BUT IT KEPT GOING AND HIT THE BACK WALL BEFORE THE ENGINE SHUT OFF. THE AIRBAGS DID NOT GO OFF. I REPORTED THE INCIDENT TO THE POLICE AND MY INSURANCE, AND THE INSURANCE DECLARED THE…

I drove my car to a parking garage yesterday. As I was pulling into a parking spot slowly, my car started to accelerate. I then pressed the brake pedal harder and the car went faster. The car stopped by hitting the wall in front. All airbags came out. The police came for the investigation. The car was not functioning so the police called the towing company to remove my car. No one was hurt, except some scratches and bruises on the face, chest and legs. No damage to the wall. But there is enough damage to my car so that the insurance company is…

WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE OR OVER 50 MPH THE VEHICLE WILL NOT ALLOW ME TO GIVE IT GAS AND A "DRIVETRAIN MALFUNCTION" COMES ON. THE CAR THEN GOES INTO LIMP MODE AND THE ENGINE SHAKES. THE VEHICLE WILL NOT ALLOW ME TO GIVE IT GAS AND BEFORE THE "DRIVETRAIN MALFUNCTION" COMES ON YOU CAN FEEL THE GAS OR FUEL PUMP JERK. THEN I AM NO LONGER ABLE TO GIVE THE CAR GAS, LIMP BODE HAPPENS, ENGINE SHAKES, AND THE CAR PUTS ITSELF IN NEUTRAL. I HAVE TO FIND A WAY TO GET IN THE EMERGENCY LANE WITHOUT GETTING HIT AND TURN THE CAR OFF FOR A FEW MINUTES TO…
