18V408000 · Structure:Motorcycle:Kickstand/Center Stand | Structure:Frame And Members
Reported: 2018-06-15 (June 15, 2018) · Model years: 2017, 2018
BMW of North America, LLC (BMW) is recalling certain 2017-2018 BMW G310R and 2018 BMW G310GS motorcycles. Over time, repeated use and loading of the side stand could cause damage to the side stand and the motorcycle's frame.
Consequence: Damage to the side stand and/or frame may result in the motorcycle unexpectedly falling over while it is stationary, increasing the risk of injury.
Remedy: BMW will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the frame, installing a reinforcement plate and new side stand, or the frame will be replaced if necessary, free of charge. The recall began on September 21, 2018. Owners may contact BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417.

BMW of North America, LLC (BMW) is recalling certain 2019 C 400 X, 2018-2020 G 310 GS, and 2017-2020 G 310 R scooters and motorcycles. The front and rear brake caliper pistons may corrode, possibly causing the piston to stick or drag in the caliper bore.
Consequence: A sticking or dragging brake could affect braking performance, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy: BMW will notify owners, and dealers will replace the front and rear brake calipers, free of charge. The recall began March 13, 2020. Owners may contact BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417.

Emerging complaint spikes
Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.
This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.
No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.
Equal-age model-year comparison
Model-wide cumulative reports during the first three or five calendar years, starting with the model year (age 0). Only fully elapsed windows are compared.
2019: 1 complaints · 2020: 0 complaints

|---|---|---|---|
| 2019 | 1 | 0 | 0 |
| 2020 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
Incident date is preferred when valid and no later than filing; otherwise filing date is used. Model year approximates age. Equal observation time does not adjust for sales, distance driven or reporting delays. One complaint linked to multiple model years can appear in each cohort.
