Recall history

3 distinct campaigns affect this selection. Announcement dates below are different from vehicle model years. A campaign may cover multiple years.

77V094000 · Fuel System, Gasoline:Storage:Tank Assembly:Filler Pipe And Cap

Reported: 1977-06-17 (June 17, 1977) · Model years: 1977

THE FILLER CAPS WHICH HAVE RELIEF PRESSURE VALVES INCORPORATED MAY ALLOW PRESSURE BUILD-UP IN THE GAS TANK. THIS PRESSURE MAY BE GREATER THAN THE CLOSING PRESSURE OF THE FLOAT VALVE IN THE CARBURETOR, WHICH COULD CAUSE OVERFLOODING.

Remedy: DEALER WILL MODIFY THE GAS CAP TO PREVENT PRESSURE BUILD-UP, AT NO COST TO THE OWNER.

84V092000 · Wheels

Reported: 1984-08-16 (August 16, 1984) · Model years: 1977, 1978, 1979, 1980, 1981, 1982

WHEEL MAY DEVELOP CRACKS AND FRACTURES FROM OPERATING ON ROUGH ROADS. (SPOKES WILL PRIMARILY BE AFFECTED).

Remedy: UPON INSPECTION, A REDESIGNED WHEEL WILL BE INSTALLED ALONG WITH A NEW INNER TUBE AND THE NEEDED BALANCE WEIGHTS.

NHTSA campaign record ↗
92V081000 · Service Brakes, Hydraulic:Foundation Components:Disc:Pads

Reported: 1992-06-05 (June 5, 1992) · Model years: 1992

THE BONDING TECHNIQUE USED BETWEEN THE PAD AND THE BACKING PLATE CAN RESULT IN A POROUS JOINT LAYER WHICH WATER AND SALT CAN PENETRATE, RESULTING IN CORROSION OF THE BACKING PLATE.

Consequence: THE FRONT BRAKE PADS CAN SEPARATE PARTIALLY OR COMPLETELYFROM THE CORRODED BACKING PLATE, RESULTING IN DECREASED STOPPING ABILITY AND APOSSIBLE VEHICLE ACCIDENT.

Remedy: REPLACE THE FRONT BRAKE PADS WITH NEW PADS UTILIZING A DIFFERENT BONDING METHOD WHICH ENSURES A NON-POROUS JOINT LAYER TO PREVENT WATER AND SALT PENETRATION OF THE BACKING PLATE.

Emerging complaint spikes

Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.

This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.

No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.

Equal-age model-year comparison

Model-wide cumulative reports during the first three or five calendar years, starting with the model year (age 0). Only fully elapsed windows are compared.

Incident date is preferred when valid and no later than filing; otherwise filing date is used. Model year approximates age. Equal observation time does not adjust for sales, distance driven or reporting delays. One complaint linked to multiple model years can appear in each cohort.
