While pulling up to a red light and after coming to a complete stop, I sensed the engine was revving. While pressing down on the brake, I checked the RPM gauge to see the engine was revving at around 7k rpm. I tried to immediately put the car in park and turn off the ignition, but in the time it took me to move my hand from the steering wheel to the shifter, the car violently lurched forward and crashed into a pickup truck in front of me. I shut off the car momentarily. Realizing I was blocking traffic on a heavily traveled highway, I risked tu…

My Moonroof shade gets stuck when I try to open and close it. This has been a huge problem among other BMW X1s and it is over $2,000 to fix! This has caused a lot of issues in my car. Thousands of other drivers have also reported this issue. It is not safe having my shade stuck since people can see into my car, and the sun shines which will eventually ruin my leather.

On November 18, 2022, around 9:45 a.m. on Rt. 462 in South Carolina. I was driving my 2021 BMW X1 when “boom.” I thought I’d been shot at with a shotgun. I nearly lost control of the car. The auto start software will turn the engine off when the car is still rolling. I can be rolling 2-4 MPH and the engine will just turn off. There’s a huge delay after the engine restarts for power to continue. There is no way to permanently turn off this feature. Incident occurred on 9-15-26 at approx. 1:16 PM (PST) and 6205 miles. Vehicle uncontrollably rolled/moved opposite to the selected drive gear while waiting for the clutch to engage. Had stopped on a flat paved road to allow a pedestrian to cross by, but when I released the brake pedal, the vehicle unexpectedly moved backwards immediately - despite being in drive gear. Had to slam on brakes to stop this. Fortunately, no vehicle was behind me otherwise could have collided. No warning messages, etc. prior to this incident.

Traveling about 35mph with no cars around, the brakes applied, no throttle response, and little steering. Warning lights illuminated and couldn't move car until turned off ignition and restarted. Dealer showed no codes and shows no record of it occurring. This symptom mirrors a recall on last years model, but not yet on 2024's. BMW says there's nothing more they can do but we are afraid to drive car because it's a guaranteed accident waiting to happen.

The auto start software will turn the engine off when the car is still rolling. I can be rolling 2-4 MPH and the engine will just turn off. There’s a huge delay after the engine restarts for power to continue. There is no way to permanently turn off this feature. My BMW X1 started to display a message on the screen that says "Secure vehicle against rolling". The sunroof shade is a common failure point on these cars that’s not being addressed. A quick internet search provides hundreds of reports of the same with the 2016+ vehicles. While it may seem harmless, my 3 year old constantly had the sun beating on the top of his head, especially in the hot summer sun. I had to pay somebody to install 5% tint on the glass because the sun was enough to give his skin a light sunburn. BMW wants $2500 to fix what’s obviously a defect.

There was no warning, no lights, no “bing bong” of the car to let us know there was an issue, it just stopped. We had less than 10 seconds to make a decision. When the car lost power, We had no power brakes or steering. We were in the section with concrete barriers on both sides and no shoulder. This is the most dangerous situation I can think of. Our BMW X1 needs a new front differential. It has 88,500 miles. Dealer explained that this could cause the vehicle to stall in an unsafe way. BMW has developed a repair kit for this fix and we have found many complaints from owners online saying they've had the same problem atttributed to a flawed bearing design. A repair on this vehicle is $4,157 for a new BMW unit or $2800 for a used unit. This seems like a very expensive defect for the mileage of the vehicle and it is a safety concern. BMW has denied requests for assistance. We are wo…

We noticed a gasoline smell when our BMW X1 sDrive28i was parked our the garage. We parked the car outside until the vehicle was taken to be diagnosed and repaired the next day. The diagnosis was that the driver's side fuel sending unit assembly was leaking. The mechanic who replaced the fuel sending unit assembly stated that the leak was bad enough the leaking gasoline could have caught fire.

Car was taken in for service for a water pump recall. When I receive the car back there is a radiator photo on the dashboard as if there is low coolant. After returning the car to BMW they are stating that the water pump part that was fixed has nothing to do with why there is now a coolant leak from the back of the radiator. The fuel leak is coming from the fuel pump.

This car has had fuel leaking since the moment I drove it off the lot. I messaged the dealer, and received no response. Living in Arizona without a working AC in the car is also quite a nightmare. At the moment the smell of gasoline is extremely intense and I feel worry about my baby riding in a car. It would be great if, BMW came forward, to do what’s correct, and fix the car’s issues, as it is constantly breaking down from one thing or the other. Thanks
