16V166000 · Structure:Body
Reported: 2016-03-23 (March 23, 2016) · Model years: 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010
Bugatti is recalling certain 2006-2010 Veyron vehicles manufactured March 10, 2006, to March 9, 2012, 2010-2012 Veyron Grand Sport vehicles manufactured September 29, 2009, to October 14, 2014, and 2011-2013 Veyron Super Sport vehicles manufactured February 18, 2011, to August 17, 2012. In the affected vehicles, the underbody aluminum reference plates used when lifting the vehicle may corrode and detach from the vehicle.
Consequence: If these jacking plates separate from the vehicle while driving, they may be a road hazard, potentially striking another vehicle, and increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy: Bugatti will notify owners, and dealers will rivet and seal the underbody aluminum reference plates, free of charge. The recall began on May 26, 2016. Owners may contact Bugatti at (805) 557-1050.

Reported: 2016-04-08 (April 8, 2016) · Model years: 2006, 2007, 2008
Bugatti is recalling certain model year 2006-2008 Veyron vehicles manufactured October 3, 2006, to December 22, 2006. In the affected vehicles, the positive battery (B+) cable and the connection to the alternator may corrode.
Consequence: The corrosion may result in the battery positive cable overheating, increasing the risk of a fire.
Remedy: All affected vehicles have had the battery B+ cable and the alternator replaced, free of charge. Owners may contact Bugatti at 1-805-557-1050.
NHTSA campaign record ↗16V200000 · Fuel System, Gasoline
Reported: 2016-04-08 (April 8, 2016) · Model years: 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010
Bugatti is recalling certain model year 2006-2010 Veyron vehicles manufactured March 10, 2006, to January 17, 2010 and 2010-2011 Veyron Grand Sport vehicles manufactured September 29, 2009, to June 30, 2010. In the affected vehicles, the fuel tank gauge may indicate that there is more fuel in the tank than there actually is.
Consequence: The inaccurate gauge may cause a driver to unexpectedly run out of fuel and the vehicle to stall, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy: Bugatti will notify owners, and dealers will replace the fuel tank control unit and upgrade the software, free of charge. The recall began on May 23, 2016. Owners may contact Bugatti at 1-805-557-1050.

Problems by model year
Model-wide comparison of the eight most reported components across the model. Cells show counts and shares within each model year. Open a cell for source examples.

Darker cells indicate a larger share of submitted complaints. Components overlap. This measures complaint composition, not failure probability.
Failure mileage by component
Median and middle 50% of usable owner-reported mileages. Ranges require at least five records.

Emerging complaint spikes
Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.
This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.
No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.
Equal-age model-year comparison
Model-wide cumulative reports during the first three or five calendar years, starting with the model year (age 0). Only fully elapsed windows are compared.
2009: 0 complaints · 2010: 0 complaints
| Model year | Through age 0 | Through age 1 | Through age 2 |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2009 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
| 2010 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
Date coverage across each selected cohort
| Year | Incident dates used | Filing date fallbacks | Excluded dates |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2009 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
| 2010 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
Incident date is preferred when valid and no later than filing; otherwise filing date is used. Model year approximates age. Equal observation time does not adjust for sales, distance driven or reporting delays. One complaint linked to multiple model years can appear in each cohort.
