Safety Concerns and Defects: I am reporting several safety-related defects in my 2020 Cadillac CT5, which have posed serious risks to me and my family: ⸻ 1. Transmission Pump Failure: •The transmission pump failed, causing loss of power and jerking while driving at highway speeds. This occurred on[XXX] in Georgia with my two small children in the car, putting us at high risk of a crash. •No warning lights appeared, and the failure was diagnosed by the dealer (Hennessey Cadillac). 2. Regarding NHTSA Campaign ID 25V148, GM recall N242480630. The recall was for a potential transmission control valve issue where some vehicles may be susceptible to excess wear over time, resulting in gradual loss of pressure within the valve that can cause harsh shifting. With the recall we finally knew what was wrong with the vehicle. We have a defective transmission control valve. The transmission was replaced in 2022 and now needs to be replaced again. At the appointment for the recall we expressed that the transmission control valve has alr…

The driver door will not open from the outside. My car only has 38k miles on it. All doors will open other than the driver door. This is a safety feature that needs to be recalled and fixed. The dealership even told me this happens often. I have to climb through my passenger door to get in the driver seat. Front driver side door unable to open from the outside. Faulty door handle pad. Initially randomly wouldn’t work, would have to press the pressure pad multiple times or press on specific part of the pad. Eventually, stopped working all together. It’s a safety issue if unable to open the door during an emergency. Pretty common issue on Cadillac CT5s regardless of trim. Affects all 4 doors, just happen to be the driver side is the most used.

I put up a rubber stop to test the emergency stop feature the car is equipped with. With car moving either forward in drive or backwards in reverse the car would not automatically stop before hitting this two foot high aid. A warning vibration is felt just before the car struck the device but the way I understand it in the owners manual the car should come to a complete emergency stop. This could endanger anyone or anything that the driver did not see while moving the car, i.e., a child on a tricycle for example.

I have experienced a serious and recurring safety issue with the door handles on my Cadillac CT5 vehicles. The exterior door handles have stopped working, preventing the doors from being opened normally. On one occasion, I was trying to get my child out of the back seat when the rear door handle failed and would not open. Because the child safety lock was engaged, my child was also unable to open the door from the inside. I had to climb through the vehicle and use another door to get my child out. All four exterior door handles on my 2021 Cadillac CT5 have experienced the same intermittent failure. The handles initially work intermittently and then become unable to release the door. This has occurred on all four doors. This creates a serious safety concern because occupants may be unable to enter or exit the vehicle normally, and emergency responders may be unable to access occupants through the affected doors. This appears to be a systemic defect affecting multiple CT5 vehicles, rather than an isolated component failure.

Outside door handle/pads stopped working. Car has 30K miles and 2 door handles stopped working and others are starting to be intermittent. Understanding is the pad and electronic switch gets gunked out and wouldn’t make connection. Only way you can open the door is via inside door latch. Seems like a really bad situation if you get into an accident and can’t open thru door from the outside due to a faulty door handle.

I have had many issues with Onstar failing. I bought the 2020 Cadillac CT5 AWD 10/2020. It took Onstar over a month to connect to my car to provide AT&T internet plan (via Onstar). On 4/22/21 I was hit in my driver front & wheel, Onstar failed- never contacted us & the airbags did not deploy. I noticed my Onstar light was red. Onstar was repaired during the body shop repair.
