THE 8 SPEED TRANSMISSION HAS BEEN JERKY AT SLOW SPEEDS FROM ALMOST DAY ONE. BUT AFTER 30,000 MILES IT HAS BECOME WORSE. AT TIME AFTER STARTING THE VEHICLE AND PLACING INTO GEAR IT WILL SUDDENLY AND VIOLENTLY LUNG FORWARD OR REVERSE, WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A SLOW SPEED IT WILL STALL ABRUPTLY, TWICE CAUSING AN ENGINE CODE. TWO DEALERS HAVE TRIED TO FIX IT, BUT HAVEN' BEEN ABLE TO. THIS SEEMS TO BE A MUCH BIGGER PROBLEM RELATED TO THE 8 SPEED TRANSMISSION IN GENERAL.

THE DEALERSHIP INSPECTED IT AND SAID NO PROBLEM WAS FOUND. WE BROUGHT IT BACK MULTIPLE TIMES TO HEAR NO PROBLEM FOUND. THROUGH THE LIFE OF THIS VEHICLE IT CONTINUES TO HAPPEN BUT NOW MORE VIGOROUSLY.

I am currently experiencing a concerning issue with my hybrid car, which has been stalling unexpectedly and shutting itself off while driving. This alarming behavior poses a significant safety risk, as it could potentially lead to a crash in critical situations, especially if it occurs during high-speed travel or in heavy traffic. Despite regular maintenance and inspections, the problem persists, and I am worried about the reliability of the vehicle. The intermittent nature of the stalling makes it particularly difficult to diagnose, and I am…

Active Fuel Management system is starving the lifters of lubrication. Push rod got snapped in half and lifters needed to be replaced. Then the headers had to be fixed because of all of this. With a complete repair done, the push rod has again malfunctioned one month after the new one was put in. My certified mechanic has informed me I’m going to continue to have an issue while GM isn’t concerned with addressing the issue of the AFM system.

Press start button displayed, car immediately sounded like it geared down hard and then lost power, unable to control well, all I could do to come to a safe stop, while praying that the car behind me didn’t hit me. On March 21, 2026 while traveling at approximately 70 mph on a public highway, the vehicle experienced a sudden and total loss of propulsion. The vehicle stalled in active traffic, creating an immediate and life-threatening hazard. Following the stall, the vehicle’s system failed, and the vehicle would not engage any gear, including “Park” or “Neutral.” Consequently, the vehicle could not be towed by standard means and required a specialized car carrier to be transported to Heritage Cadillac in Morrow, GA 30260.

If you turn the steering wheel to the right, you will hear a scraping noise under the right front tire, as the suspension is off because of the frame damage caused from an accident with the previous owner. The engine started making a tapping noise on the right side. Then the tapping noise got louder and then stopped but the engine light came on and the engine started running very rough. By the noise was described to the shop and they said it is bad lifters and camshafts and this is very common for the GM 6.2L engine. The vehicle has 117,000 miles on it.

I purchased a car from a used car dealer in Sacramento. Two days later, the lifters went bad. This truck only has 115,000 miles on it. This is a know issue that GM has and they're doing nothing to remedy the issue. They keep putting DOD/AFM in these expensive cars knowing the lifters will fail and cause damage to the cam. They should be responsible for doing a DOD/AFM delete on all trucks that have this issue.

The hard shifting could cause the vehicle to jerk unexpectedly, and the difficulty shifting at higher speeds caused concern about the vehicle’s ability to accelerate and maintain predictable power while driving. Emerging complaint spikes

Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.

This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.

No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.

Suspension failed at 50,000 miles. At 56,000 miles one of the valve components inside the engine (a lifter) has collapsed. This part controls the opening of the engine valve, and because it is no longer moving, that cylinder cannot build compression and is causing the misfire. This is an internal mechanical failure inside the engine and cannot be caused by body work, fuel quality, or anything external.

VEHICLE EXHIBITS A CONSTANT VIBRATION AT SPEEDS BETWEEN 35 MPH AND 75 MPH. VIBRATION IS NOT ROAD RELATED, IT IS A CONSTANT, STEADY VIBRATION REGARDLESS OF ROAD CONDITIONS, BEST DESCRIBED AS IF THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVING OVER CORDUROY. THERE IS ALSO A STEADY "BUFFETING" NOISE COMING FROM THE CABIN OF THE VEHICLE AT SPEEDS BETWEEN 55 MPH AND 70MPH. VEHICLE WAS BROUGHT TO INDEPENDENT TIRE SHOP (BY ME) TO HAVE WHEELS AND TIRES ROAD FORCE BALANCED. REPORT WAS PROVIDED, ALL IN SPEC AND VIBRATION IS STILL PRESENT. The engine just stopped working mid traffics shifted to neutral automatically- almost causing a serious accident on a busy interstate . Brought to the mechanic, readings stated misfiring cylinders as engine seized and slipped. Tried fixing issue for $8300.00. Then after trying to fix it with no luck, cylinder 5 and seven were stuck and could not be repaired. Cost of labor to out engine back together was $4600.00 plus $400 to tow it to a dealer. Not only life threatening but also wallet draining with no warning. Will never buy a Cadillac agai…
