Recall history

2 distinct campaigns affect this selection. Announcement dates below are different from vehicle model years. A campaign may cover multiple years.

01V189003 · Service Brakes, Air:Controls, Pedals And Linkages

Reported: 2001-07-18 (July 18, 2001) · Model years: 1993, 1994, 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001

VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: STREETCARS AND TRANSIT BUSES EQUIPPED WITH CERTAIN MERITOR-WABCO BRAKE SYSTEM TWO AND FOUR PORT RELAY VALVES. THE VALVE MAY STICK OPEN WHEN A HIGH-PRESSURE APPLICATION IS RELEASED.

Consequence: WHEN THE VALVE STICKS OPEN, IT CAN RESULT IN A TOTAL LOSS OF AIR FROM EITHER THE SERVICE OR THE PARK BRAKE SYSTEM. THE DRIVER MAY LOSE BRAKING ABILITY UNDER A SERVICE APPLICATION, POSSIBLY RESULTING IN A VEHICLE CRASH.

Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THESE VALVES. OWNER NOTIFICATION BEGAN JULY 18, 2001. OWNERS WHO TAKE THEIR VEHICLES TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON AN AGREED UPON SERVICE DATE AND DO NOT RECEIVE THE FREE REMEDY WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME SHOULD CONTACT CHANCE COACH AT 1-888-391-1777 OR MERITOR WABCO AT 800-535-5560.

01V309000 · Power Train:Automatic Transmission

Reported: 2001-10-01 (October 1, 2001) · Model years: 2001

VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: TRANSIT COACHES. THE TRANSMISSION DIPSTICKS ARE TOO LONG.

Consequence: THIS WOULD ALLOW THE TRANSMISSION TO BE UNDERFILLED AFTER MAINTENANCE OR INDICATE AN OVERFILL CONDITION WHEN PROPERLY FILLED.

Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE FAULTY DIPSTICKS. OWNER NOTIFICATION BEGAN OCTOBER 9, 2001. OWNERS WHO TAKE THEIR VEHICLES TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON AN AGREED UPON SERVICE DATE AND DO NOT RECEIVE THE FREE REMEDY WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME SHOULD CONTACT CHANCE COACH AT 1-316-779-7700.

Darker cells indicate a larger share of submitted complaints. Components overlap. This measures complaint composition, not failure probability.

Emerging complaint spikes

Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.

This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.

No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.

Equal-age model-year comparison

Model-wide cumulative reports during the first three or five calendar years, starting with the model year (age 0). Only fully elapsed windows are compared.

Incident date is preferred when valid and no later than filing; otherwise filing date is used. Model year approximates age. Equal observation time does not adjust for sales, distance driven or reporting delays. One complaint linked to multiple model years can appear in each cohort.
