WINDSHIELD WIPERS CAME ON AN OFF BY THEMSELVES ONCE THE KNOB WAS TURNED TO THE ON POSITION. *AK WIPERS WERE REPAIRED AT THE CONSUMER'S EXPENSE BY THE DEALERSHIP. A FEW YEARS LATER, THE SAME THING. CONSUMER FEELS GM SHOULD COVER THE COST OF THE NEXT REPAIR. SHE NOTED SHE CAN'T DRIVE THE VEHICLE IF THERE IS A POSSIBILITY OF RAIN AND NORMALLY THERE ARE CHILDREN IN THE VEHICLE. ONE TIME IT STARTED TO RAIN, SHE HAD TO PULL OVER AND WAIT UNTIL THE RAIN SLOWED DOWN TO DRIVE HOME. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY HAZARD. *PH

Emerging complaint spikes
Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.
This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.
No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.

Incident date is preferred when valid and no later than filing; otherwise filing date is used. Model year approximates age. Equal observation time does not adjust for sales, distance driven or reporting delays. One complaint linked to multiple model years can appear in each cohort.
