I OWN A 2001 CHEVY IMPALA & A 2001 CHEVY TAHOE. I HAD CLUNKING NOISES COMING FORM THE STEERING. I TOOK THE IMPALA TO THE DEALER, THEY SAID IT WAS THE STEERING SHAFT AND THAT THEY'VE BEEN HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM WITH MANY OTHER CUSTOMERS. NOW I HAVE THE SAME STEERING/CLUNKING NOISE WITH MY TAHOE. ONE OF EMPLOYEES TOLD ME THEIR ON BACK ORDER FOR THE SAME PART FOR UP TO A 3 MONTH WAITING PERIOD. SO FROM MY EXPERIENCE, TWO VEHICLES, THE SAME COMPANY, THE SAME PROBLEM. THERE'S DEFINITELY A DEFECT AND I THINK THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL A.S.A.P. F…

ALTHOUGH OUR TRUCK MAKE AND MODEL HAS BEEN RECALLED FOR BRAKE SENSOR PROBLEMS IN THE "SALT BELT" OUR STATE OF MINNESOTA WAS NOT INCLUDED. I DO NOT KNOW WHY BECAUSE I KNOW WE USE PLENTY OF SALT HERE FOR APROX 5 MONTHS OF THE YEAR. WE HAVE EXPERIENCED THE PROBLEM IDENTIFIED WITH THE RECALL. OUR TRUCKS ANTI- LOCK BRAKES WILL ENGAGE AND THE TRUCK WILL SLIDE AT A SLOW RATE OF SPEED. THE DATE INFORMATION BELOW IS APPROXIMATE.*JB

Emerging complaint spikes
Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.
This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.
No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.
Equal-age model-year comparison

Incident date is preferred when valid and no later than filing; otherwise filing date is used. Model year approximates age. Equal observation time does not adjust for sales, distance driven or reporting delays. One complaint linked to multiple model years can appear in each cohort.
