TIRES WERE RECALLED, PREVIOUSLY EXCHANGED, DOT SCRATCHED OFF, AND PUT BACK ON A PICK-UP TRUCK I RECENTLY PURCHASED FROM A PRIVATE OWNER(NO HELP THERE BY THE WAY). I WENT TO A LOCAL FIRESTONE DEALER AND JOHN AT LOS AMIGOS TIRES IN MANTECA, CA SAID "THAT SINCE THE DOT WAS ALREADY SCRATCHED OFF THAT THE TIRES HAD TO HAVE ALREADY BEEN SENT BACK TO FIRESTONE AND SNUCK OUT THE BACK DOOR, INSTEAD OFF BEING DESTROYED AS BY LAW, AND ONTO THIS TRUCK. HE ALSO STATED THAT "HE COULD NOT AND WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO HELP ME. I CONTACTED FIRESTONE DIRECTLY AND SP…
THE DRIVER SIDE REAR FIRESTONE TIRE ON MY 1988 CHEVROLET SCOTTSDALE PICK-UP HAD THE TREAD SEPARATE FROM THE TIRE WHILE TRAVELING EAST ON I-10 IN TALLAHASSEE. I WAS GOING APPROX. 65 MPH. THE TREAD SLAPPED THE REAR SIDE OF MY TRUCK BENDING AND DAMAGING IT, AND THEN WRAPPED AROUND THE AXLE UNDER THE VEHICLE. I JUST BARELY MANAGED TO KEEP CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. LUCKILY THE TIRE SLOWLY DEFLATED "AFTER" THE INCIDENT.*AK

Emerging complaint spikes
Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.
This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.
No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.
Equal-age model-year comparison
Model-wide cumulative reports during the first three or five calendar years, starting with the model year (age 0). Only fully elapsed windows are compared.

Incident date is preferred when valid and no later than filing; otherwise filing date is used. Model year approximates age. Equal observation time does not adjust for sales, distance driven or reporting delays. One complaint linked to multiple model years can appear in each cohort.
