Component - Integrated Trailer Brake Controller Safety - caused a vehicle skid and loss of control Inspection - it is scheduled to go in to the dealer today Warnings - the dash messages "Trailer Brakes Connected" and "Trailers Brakes Disconnected" displays often when a trailer is connected, as frequently as several times per minute. I believe that NHTSA and GM are aware of issues with the trailer brake connector on these vehicles. The integrated trailer brake controller connects and disconnects the trailer brakes as often as several times per…

Connecting this trailer to a new 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD, the trailer brakes cut in and out every minute or so. The truck shows a warning that the trailer brakes are disconnected, and then they reconnected. This happens repeatedly. General Motors and Forest River have been advised of this, but neither have a solution. Forest River does not want to engage with me (as consumer). GM is still working with me to trouble shoot. Theory is that the solar charging on the trailer is causing the issue with the GM vehicle. Truck (not the tr…

Transmission failure on interstate i90, truck down shifted violently and check engine light came on and warning on dash read speed reduced drive with caution. Took truck to gm dealer on August 1 2024 who said the transmission shift solenoid plate has to be replaced. Gm dealer still has my truck as of October 16 2024 and all I they can tell me is that the part is on back order and they have no idea when it will be available. Brand new truck, 1st time towing through mountains of Kentucky, we kept getting "check trailer wiring", "trailer brakes disconnected" "service trailer brakes" I did research and took the truck in for service. They found nothing wrong, but said we should get an adapter and gave me the name of two. We had the camper checked as well, no issues. On July 2nd, 2023, an error message popped up on the dash, “Park Assist Blocked See Owner’s Manual”. It continued to happen on and off til this very day. The dealership "attempted" to fix the issue, but it obviously hasn't been resolved. Due to equipment being faulty, the chances of an accident whilst back up are significantly increased. I’m have 1-2” dead space in steering. It is hard to stay in lane on highway as when a road dip takes extra movement keep straight. I was told this is normal but had dealer change steering box. Replacement helped a lot but truck is starting to get the 1-2” of play once again. Seems like similar issue to 2016 model year.

While towing our 25ft travel trailer, I began getting warning from the trailer brake controller which repeatedly disconnected and, thankfully reconnected them after a brief interval. Luckily, the times when I had no trailer brakes did not require rapid stops. That said, towing a 7000 # trailer thru the mountains in a driving rain storm with no brakes randomly caused a bit of concern. After researching this I find this is a known defect and has TSB’s and voluntary recalls in place. (TSB 23-NA-149 and N232414840 respectively) However I was neve…

Brake pad failure, at 22,000 miles brake pads are almost worn out and leave extreme amounts of brake dust on wheels. This issue has been happening since 500 miles. Was told by dealer that it's a cheaper pad that the manufacture uses and the wear is normal. Steering wheel shakes when brakes are applied and when you're pulling a load the vehicle starts vibrating and jumping. Now rotors are warped due to the faulty pads wearing out so soon. When truck is connected to a trailer with electric brakes, intermittently a check trailer wiring warning flashes on the dashboard screen. When this happens you do not have trailer brakes. It has happened on multiple trailers with 7 pin connections. I have taken it to the dealer twice with no fix other than GM recommending a non GM trailer receptacle. I have taken my trailer to the dealer and they could find no problems. Basically the 2024 Silverado 2500 HD when hooked to trailers with industry standard 7 pin 12 volt receptacle loses traile…

When towing my travel trailer with the 2500HD, the electronic trailer brake randomly connects and disconnects while driving. This results in the unsafe operation of the trailer because the brakes aren't functional and puts others at risk if stopping was required during the outage. GM/Chevy has created Document #6379278 which admits that this is their issue but they don't seem to be providing a fix.

This caused me to lose both power steering and braking capabilities. From what I gather, this part is part of a "phased" initiative recall (see N252516900 Fuel Pump Power Control Module). This part was seemingly installed in all or most of GM SUVs and Trucks since 2021. Unfortunately, only some 2021-2023 models are under recall due to the "phased" nature of this recall.
