I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE IN DEC OF 2019 USED. 35,000 MILES. NOW HAS 88,000 AND THE TRANSMISSION WENT OUT. REGULAR OIL CHANGES. NO WARNING LIGHTS. NO ISSUES. STOPPED RUNNING. AFTER HAVING SOMEONE LOOK AT IT TO SEE WHAT THE ISSUE WAS, THE MECHANIC SAID THE ENTIRE TRANSMISSION HAS TO EITHER BE REBUILT OR REPLACED.

Owner report 11437798 · 2021-10-22 (October 22, 2021)

I purchased the vehicle in June. On a trip in July the transmission stopped functioning in the middle of a major highway. There was no warning and the car just stopped. After getting it to a service dealer in the state we were traveling in, we were told it was the transmission. The car had less than 34,000 miles on it. Fast forward to today and 4 garage visits later, I know own a vehicle that I am told by service dept could need an entire transmission. At less than 40,000 miles.

When driving with the 4x4 switch in the auto setting the car would jerk while driving at high speeds. Almost seemed like the left front tire would engage on dry pavement. Also there is a loss of steering while the vehicle is in motion. Speed does not change when it happens. Seems to happen more when driving around a corner. A CRACK APPEARED IN THE DASH ON THE CORNER OF THE AIRBAG! TWO MONTHS LATER ANOTHER CRACK APPEARED OVER THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. CURRENTLY THE ENTIRE CENTER PORTION OF THE DASH IS SINKING. OUR FEAR IS THIS WILL CAUSE AN AIRBAG MALFUNCTION OR IF THE AIRBAG DOES DEPLOY, THE ENTIRE CENTER PORTION OF THE DASH WILL BE THROWN INTO OUR FACE. I CONTACTED GM AND THEY AGREED TO PAY 60% TO HAVE A NEW DASH PUT IN. *TR

The power steering on the vehicle had failed on December 10th, 2023. The sign was displayed on the dashboard for the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to Sunrise Chevy and stayed with them for a month for repair and they have been unable to repair the issue. They said the rack and pinion had gone bad on this brand new car. This is very dangerous as the safety of myself as well as others on the road are compromised due to faulty steering problems.

Transmission will not go into drive or reverse. This also happens when car is in drive going down the road it will all of a sudden lose power and not go when pressing gas pedal. Vehicle has to completely shut off several times before it will go back into gear. No warning before it started. This can be dangerous when it happens in traffic and I can’t move car out of the road. It has not been inspected yet. Also blind spot warning does not always says it needs serviced.

My husband was driving our 2018 Chevy Suburban when it suddenly stopped accelerating and he could no longer shift gears. Luckily, this happened while he was driving down a gravel road (approx 25-30mph). If he would have been driving at highway speeds, it is likely that he could have lost control of the vehicle. Our Suburban had no issues to this point and had always run well. We take it in for routine maintenance. We had it towed to a local repair shop, and they informed us that something had happened with the transmission and that it would n…

Emerging complaint spikes

Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.

This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.

No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.

I DRIVE A 2018 CHEVY SUBURBAN. THIS CAR HAD NO LIGHTS ON AND HAS LESS THAN 18K MILES ON IT. IT IS JUST OVER TWO YEARS OLD AND THERE ARE NO RECALLS ON THE VEHICLE. I WAS DRIVING WITH MY [XXX] CHILD AND WE HAD DRIVEN ABOUT A MILE. WE WERE ON THE FEEDER ROAD ABOUT TO GET ON THE FREEWAY. THE CAR STARTED SPONTANEOUSLY ACCELERATING ON ITS OWN. JERKING FASTER AND FASTER WITHOUT ME TOUCHING THE GAS. IT WAS LIKE WE WERE ON A RUNAWAY TRAIN. I PANICKED AND SLAMMED MY FOOT ON THE BREAKS. THERE WERE NO BREAKS - NO TENSION OR PRESSURE IN THE BRAKE PE…

Loss of steering happened for a split second or multiple seconds.

While slowing down to make a left hand turn at an intersection, my vehicle suddenly lost power steering and the entire system completely shut down. There was no electronic function during that time. I had to put the vehicle in park, turn the key to the off position and then start it back up. It has happened multiple times, both at low speeds in drive and reverse. This would have caused a collision if there was oncoming traffic at the intersection at that time.

THE STABILITY TRACK LIGHTS KEEPS COMING ON AND OFF. DEALER CAN'T SEEM TO FIND OUT WHAT THE PROBLEM IS. IT DOES NOT LEAVE A CODE IN ORDER TO FIND OUT WHAT THE PROBLEM IS. WHEN THE LIGHT COMES ON IT AFFECTS THE CRUISE CONTROL AND STEERING ASSIST. THIS OCCURS WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE. IT DOESN'T MATTER IF YOU ARE ON A CITY STREET OR HIGHWAY.
