Owner report 11010049 · 2017-07-22 (July 22, 2017)

ON WEDNESDAY, JULY 12, 2017, I SIGNED A LEASE FOR A BRAND-NEW 2017 CHEVROLET TAHOE LS AT ED BOZARTH CHEVROLET IN LAS VEGAS NV. THREE DAYS LATER AS I WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE ON THE MAIN STREETS MY VEHICLE KEPT HESITATING AND JUMPING AS I WOULD HAVE TO STOP IN TRAFFIC THEN MOVE AGAIN WHEN I PRESSED ON THE GAS. THEN AS I WAS WAITING TO MAKE A LEFT TURN IN TRAFFIC, MY VEHICLE STALLED THEN ALLOWED ME TO GO. THEN SUDDENLY MY ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I THEN RECEIVED AN EMAIL FROM THE ONSTAR NOTIFICATION STATING THE DIAGNOSTIC DETECTED AN ISSUE WITH MY …

DEALER THEN BALANCED TIRES AND ALIGNMENT WAS COMPLETED. THIS ALSO DID NOT FIX. DEALER KEPT MY CAR FOR ALMOST 2 WEEKS AND REPLACED TORQUE CONVERTER. THIS STILL DID NOT FIX IT. HARD BRAKE PEDAL RESULTING IN LITTLE OR NO STOPPING POWER WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKES AT LOW SPEED. TO GET THE VEHICLE TO STOP, YOU MUST STOMP ON THE PEDAL AS HARD AS YOU CAN. THE SITUATION TYPICALLY OCCURS WHEN PARKING. THE BRAKE APPLICATION OR TWO ARE FINE, BUT AFTER THAT THE BRAKES FAIL. THIS SAME ISSUE APPEARS TO BE WELL DOCUMENTED UNDER NHTSA ID NUMBER 10081053 AND GM PIT5361B, HOWEVER THOSE DO NOT INCLUDE THE 2017 MODEL YEAR, AND I AM SEEING WHAT APPEARS TO BE THE EXACT SAME ISSUE ON MY 2017 TAHOE.

DRIVING IN TRAFFIC SLOW SPEED, BRAKES WENT TO FLOOR, LOST POWER BRAKES, POSSIBLY VACUUM PRESSURE. VERY HARD TO STOP VEHICLE. BRAKES WORKED AFTER DRIVING AT A HIGHER SPEED WHILE ATTEMPTING TO EXIT THE ROAD. THIS IS A BRAKE BOOSTER/VACUUM LOSS ISSUE IN MY OPINION. THIS IS A 1 YEAR OLD VEHICLE. THIS SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING. MY TAHOE IS HAVING PROBLEMS WITH ACCELERATION. SOMETIMES THE VEHICLE WILL IDLE OVER THE RPM AND WON'T SWITCH GEARS OR SPEED UNLESS I LET GO OF THE GAS TO BRING THE RPM DOWN AND THEN ACCELERATE AGAIN. THERE ARE ALSO TIMES WHEN THE CAR JERKS WHEN ACCELERATING AND MAKES A LOUD NOISE AS IF SOMETHING JUST POPPED OR BROKE AND SOMETIMES IT FEELS LIKE IT'S ABOUT TO STALL WHEN ACCELERATING. The dashboard will then instruct me to press the power button, and when I do the vehicle restarts and will be in park. It has happened once while driving on the interstate and twice while making turns into oncoming traffic. The vehicle has stalled three times since I bought it a week ago. I will be driving and the engine will stall, putting the vehicle into neutral gear. The dashboard will then instruct me to press the power button, and when I do the vehicle restarts and will be in park. It has happened once while driving on the interstate and twice while making turns into oncoming traffic. When I go to accelerate there will be no acceleration, the vehicle will just be in neutral with no warning.

We have a chevy with the 6.2 V8 engine. First we were at a stop light on the highway and the car shifted into Neutral and would not come out for two light cycles. My wife and children were stuck at the light with car's swerving around them at 65+. Finally it shifted into Drive. We called the Chevy dealership and they said it would be a month before they could look at the car and there were no check engine warnings. Two days later my wife and family were driving down the highway and suddenly it started making a flapping sound from the engine bay…

My family and I were returning from vacation from Florida to our home state, North Carolina, when our new Tahoe with 5700 miles started to act strangely. There is a serious cabin air pressure issue in this vehicle. When driving at any speed with the windows up, there is a booming inside the cabin, as if the passengers are inside of a subwoofer. I purchased this Tahoe in 2021I believe. I have replaced the transmission in 2024 for this Z71 Tahoe and now the lifters are gone as well. In the process of going in the shop. I’m very upset. Tahoe’s cost too much for transmission, lifters to be going out and needing a new one installed. This is a major problem with Tahoe’s and I need some answers as to what can be done to help with this major issue. Who do I need to call or speak with to get this issue resolved. It’s a problem and no one wants to be accountable for making trash and selling it …

The system that I believe to be failing has to do with electrical components of the 2017 Chevy Tahoe. It has completely lost all power two times while driving this vehicle. In both instances, mine & my children's lives were at risk including those who could have hit us. If anyone had been behind me as I was turning and the car shut off mid turn, it's possible we could have been hit by a vehicle(s) going 50+ mph. It's available to you to be inspected if needed. We almost got hit several times trying to get it to the side of the road for safety. I had to pay almost $1800 to get it towed home (we were in Peoria about 150 miles from home to see his doctor). There was a recall in 2019 (NHTSA Recall No. 19V645000) on certain GM vehicles for vacuum pump failure, which could affect braking and engine performance. The fix usually involved reprogramming the ECM to improve how the brake assist system operates - not necessarily replacing the vacuum pump unless it had already failed. My local dealership did the reprogramming but in 2025 the vacuum pump totally failed and left my vehicle stranded on the interstate. I had to have towed to a mechanic shop and the inside of the pump had broken into 3 pieces. S…

Luckily I was on a residential street and was able to get out of the road with a lot of effort steering. The car was taken to a local mechanic and we were told the power steering motor went out. I had no issues that would hint there was an issue with my power steering. I stopped at a drive thru, and when leaving and crossing 4 lanes to get into a lane, my power steering went out in the middle, driving less than 20 mph. I am very lucky that no cars were coming and I was able to pull into a parking lot that was across the street. My 3 kids were in the car when this occurred, and it seems this is a common occurance. This is a safety issue that needs addressed before someone gets killed.
