Reported: 2024-05-15 (May 15, 2024) · Model years: 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024

Forest River, Inc. (Forest River) is recalling certain 2020-2023 Coachmen Independence Trail, 2020-2024 Viking, and 2021-2024 Clipper travel trailers. The freshwater tank may detach from the vehicle when full or overfilled.

Consequence: A detached tank can become a road hazard, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Dealers will install additional attachment straps to the tank, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed June 11, 2024. Owners may contact Forest River Customer Service at 1-574-825-6319. Forest River's number for this recall is 121-1777.

I purchased a 2022 Forest River Clipper Model #272RLS on 10-28-2023. We put it in storage for the winter and took it out for the first time on May 19-2024. Driving down the freeway at 70 miles an hour the water tank fell out and was dragging on the road. We took it to the dealer the next day. We received a Recall NHTSA RECALL: 24V339 FOREST RIVER ID: 121-1777. The fix was to add another strap. Myself and the dealership did not think this was adequate. We did not get our trailer back until 8-19-2024 and were unable to use it again. On J…

Emerging complaint spikes

Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.

This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.

No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.

Equal-age model-year comparison

Model-wide cumulative reports during the first three or five calendar years, starting with the model year (age 0). Only fully elapsed windows are compared.

Incident date is preferred when valid and no later than filing; otherwise filing date is used. Model year approximates age. Equal observation time does not adjust for sales, distance driven or reporting delays. One complaint linked to multiple model years can appear in each cohort.
