Recall history

3 distinct campaigns affect this selection. Announcement dates below are different from vehicle model years. A campaign may cover multiple years.

91V059000 · Power Train:Axle Assembly

Reported: 1991-04-12 (April 12, 1991) · Model years: 1984, 1985, 1986

REAR AXLE BEARINGS MAY FAIL DUE TO A BENDING MOMENT CREATED BY THE AFTERMARKET DUAL REAR WHEELS FROM A VARIETY OF FACTORS AND ESPECIALLY WHEN OVERLOADED. FAILURE OF THE BEARINGS CREATE STRESSES ON THE REAR AXLE, RESULTING IN THE BREAKAGE OF THE AXLE.

Consequence: A BROKEN AXLE WILL CAUSE SEPARATION OF THE DUAL REARWHEEL ASSEMBLY FROM THE MOTORHOME, CAUSING LOSS OF CONTROL WHICH COULD RESULT AN ACCIDENT.

Remedy: REPLACE REAR AXLE ASSEMBLIES WITH FULL-FLOATING REAR AXLE ASSEMBLIES. ALSO, LITERATURE WILL BE CIRCULATED CAUTIONING VEHICLE OWNERS NOT TO OVERLOAD THE MICRO-MINI MOTORHOMES.

02V009000 · Equipment:Mechanical:Carrier/Rack

Reported: 2002-01-09 (January 9, 2002) · Model years: 2002

ON SOME TRAVEL TRAILERS EQUIPPED WITH OPTIONAL UNDERSLUNG SPARE TIRE CARRIERS, THE LOCKING PIN FOR THE SPARE TIRE CARRIER MAY NOT HAVE BEEN INSTALLED.

Consequence: IF THE RELEASE BOLT THAT SECURES THE SPARE TIRE CARRIER TO THE FRAME AT THE DROP DOWN END OF THE CARRIER WERE TO BECOME LOOSE AND FALL OFF, A PORTION OF THE CARRIER ASSEMBLY ITSELF COULD DETACH AND FALL OFF IF THERE IS NO LOCKING PIN. IF THE SPARE TIRE CARRIER WERE TO SEPARATE FROM THE UNIT DURING TRAVEL, THERE IS THE POTENTIAL FOR A CRASH.

Remedy: DEALERS WILL INSTALL AN IMPROVED CARRIER RELEASE BOLT AND LOCKING PIN. OWNER NOTIFICATION BEGAN JANUARY 21, 2002. OWNERS WHO TAKE THEIR VEHICLES TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON AN AGREED UPON SERVICE DATE AND DO NOT RECEIVE THE FREE REMEDY WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME SHOULD CONTACT COACHMEN AT 1-800-453-6064.

20V727000 · Equipment:Appliance:Oven/Stove/Cooktop | Equipment:Recreational Vehicle/Trailer:Lpg Systems

Reported: 2020-11-23 (November 23, 2020) · Model years: 2019

Forest River, Inc. (Forest River) is recalling certain 2019 Coachmen Chaparral and Shasta, 2019-2020 Coachmen Concord and Orion, 2020-2021 Coachmen Cross Trek and Forest River Berkshire, 2019-2021 Coachmen Freelander, Leprechaun and Prism, 2020 Coachmen Mirada, Pursuit and Sportscoach, Dynamax Force, DX3, Dynaquest XL and Isata and Forest River Wildwood and 2008 and 2020 Forest River Salem vehicles equipped with Dometic 3 burner cooking stoves. The saddle valve securing bolt may be overtightened, possibly damaging the o-ring seal and causing a continuous gas leak.

Consequence: A gas leak can increase the risk of a fire.

Remedy: Forest River will notify owners, and dealers will install a remedy kit of gaskets, washers, thread locker bolts, and two round orange labels, free of charge. The recall began January 11, 2021. Owners may contact Forest River customer service at 1-574-825-4995, or Dometic customer service at 1-574-293-0681. Forest River's number for this recall is 51-1259.

Emerging complaint spikes

Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.

This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.

No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.

Equal-age model-year comparison

Model-wide cumulative reports during the first three or five calendar years, starting with the model year (age 0). Only fully elapsed windows are compared.

Incident date is preferred when valid and no later than filing; otherwise filing date is used. Model year approximates age. Equal observation time does not adjust for sales, distance driven or reporting delays. One complaint linked to multiple model years can appear in each cohort.
