Recall history

2 distinct campaigns affect this selection. Announcement dates below are different from vehicle model years. A campaign may cover multiple years.

01V304001 · Steering:Gear Box (Other Than Rack And Pinion)

Reported: 2002-02-12 (February 12, 2002) · Model years: 1993, 1994, 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999

VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: MOTOR HOMES. THE STEERING GEAR BOX IS MOUNTED ON A SUPPORT LOCATED UNDER THE DRIVER'S SEAT FLOOR. ON MOTOR HOME MODELS, THIS SUPPORT VARIES IN HEIGHT WITH THE OPTIONAL INTERIOR HEIGHT. WITH 83 AND 86 INCH HEIGHT OPTIONS, THE SUPPORT MAY BE OVERLOADED IN CERTAIN OPERATION CONDITIONS.

Consequence: A CONTINUOUSLY FULLY LOADED VEHICLE THAT HAS TO MANEUVER IN TIGHT SPACE FREQUENTLY CAN DEVELOP STRESS CRACKS AT THE STEERING GEAR BOX SUPPORT. A LOSS OF CONTROL COULD OCCUR, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.

Remedy: DEALERS WILL ADD A REINFORCEMENT TO THE STEERING SUPPORT. PREVOST IS HANDLING THE OWNER NOTIFICATION AND REMEDY FOR THIS CAMPAIGN. OWNERS WHO TAKE THEIR VEHICLES TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON AN AGREED UPON SERVICE DATE AND DO NOT RECEIVE THE FREE REMEDY WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME SHOULD CONTACT PREVOST AT 418-831-5432 OR COUNTRY COACH AT 1-800-547-8015.

Emerging complaint spikes

Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.

This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.

No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.

Equal-age model-year comparison

Model-wide cumulative reports during the first three or five calendar years, starting with the model year (age 0). Only fully elapsed windows are compared.

Incident date is preferred when valid and no later than filing; otherwise filing date is used. Model year approximates age. Equal observation time does not adjust for sales, distance driven or reporting delays. One complaint linked to multiple model years can appear in each cohort.
