Recall history

1 distinct campaigns affect this selection. Announcement dates below are different from vehicle model years. A campaign may cover multiple years.

13V611000 · Latches/Locks/Linkages

Reported: 2013-12-06 (December 6, 2013) · Model years: 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013

Covered Wagon Trailers, LLC (Covered Wagon) is recalling certain model year 2006-2013 cargo trailers manufactured January 1, 2006, through April 25, 2013 and equipped with Fastec-brand door locks. It may be possible to remove the key from the lock in a way that potentially jams the deadbolt.

Consequence: If the deadbolt jams, the interior side of the door lock may also jam. A person inside the travel trailer at the time will then be locked in and be unable to exit the vehicle, increasing the risk of injury.

Remedy: Covered Wagon will notify owners, and Fastec will coordinate the inspection and replacement of the cylinders, as needed, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin in January 2014. Owners may contact Covered Wagon at 1-229-423-4044 or Fastec at 1-800-837-2505.

Emerging complaint spikes

Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.

This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.

No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.

Equal-age model-year comparison

Model-wide cumulative reports during the first three or five calendar years, starting with the model year (age 0). Only fully elapsed windows are compared.

Incident date is preferred when valid and no later than filing; otherwise filing date is used. Model year approximates age. Equal observation time does not adjust for sales, distance driven or reporting delays. One complaint linked to multiple model years can appear in each cohort.
