20V661000 · Seat Belts

Reported: 2020-10-27 (October 27, 2020) · Model years: 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020

Braun Ambulances (Braun) is recalling certain 2017-2020 Demers TSE and EXE Ambulances for a problem with the seat belt system installed in the rear medical module of the ambulance at the side-facing bench seating positions. Consequence: Separation of the upper harness may increase the risk of injury to the occupant in the event of a crash.

Remedy: Braun Ambulances will notify owners, and dealers will remove and reinstall the harness mounting bolts with a modified configuration, free of charge. The recall began November 16, 2020. Owners may contact Braun Ambulances customer service at 1-877-344-9990.

Emerging complaint spikes

Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.

This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.

No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.

Equal-age model-year comparison

Model-wide cumulative reports during the first three or five calendar years, starting with the model year (age 0). Only fully elapsed windows are compared.

Incident date is preferred when valid and no later than filing; otherwise filing date is used. Model year approximates age. Equal observation time does not adjust for sales, distance driven or reporting delays. One complaint linked to multiple model years can appear in each cohort.
