Recall history
4 distinct campaigns affect this selection. Announcement dates below are different from vehicle model years. A campaign may cover multiple years.
11V091000 · Equipment
Reported: 2011-02-11 (February 11, 2011) · Model years: 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007
DOUBLE K IS RECALLING CERTAIN BUSES EQUIPPED WITH TRANS AIR TA 73 EVAPORATORS. THE EVAPORATOR UTILIZES A POWER RESISTOR TO REGULATE BLOWER SPEED. SHOULD A SHORT OCCUR IN THE "LOW OR MEDIUM SPEED" CIRCUIT WHILE THE BLOWER IS IN HIGH SPEED, THE SHORT WILL CAUSE THE SUPPLY VOLTAGE TO FEEDBACK THROUGH THE RESISTOR TO GROUND, NOT DRAWING ENOUGH CURRENT TO TRIP THE FUSE.
Consequence: THIS WOULD CAUSE THE RESISTOR TEMPERATURE TO RISE TO A POINT WHERE IT WILL MELT AND POSSIBLY IGNITE THE PLASTIC BLOWER HOUSING TO WHICH IT IS MOUNTED. THE OVERHEATING CAN RESULT IN A FIRE.
Remedy: DOUBLE K IN COOPERATION WITH TRANS AIR WILL INSTALL A THERMAL SHUTDOWN DEVICE IN SERIES WITH THE SPEED RESISTORS. THIS SERVICE WILL BE PERFORMED FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL BEGAN DURING FEBRUARY 2011. OWNERS MAY CONTACT TRANS AIR WARRANTY AND SERVICE CENTER AT 1-800-673-2446 AND DOUBLE K AT 1-715-478-5090.

Reported: 2011-11-15 (November 15, 2011) · Model years: 2008, 2009, 2010
DOUBLE K (DBA HOMETOWN TROLLEY) IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2008 THROUGH 2010 VILLAGER AND MAINSTREET BUSES MANUFACTURED FROM NOVEMBER 2008 THOUGH DECEMBER 2010 AND EQUIPPED WITH CARRIER GENV EM-1 EVAPORATOR UNITS, CONTAINING A DELPHI PACK-CON III FUSE HOLDER IN AN ALLIED MOTION MOTOR ASSEMBLY. DUE TO TIME, TEMPERATURE, AND/OR VIBRATION, THE FUSE MAY LOOSEN IN THE FUSE HOLDER RESULTING IN HIGH RESISTANCE AND ARCING.
Consequence: IF SUFFICIENT ARCING OCCURS, THE FUSE HOLDER MAY MELT, AND MAY BE ACCOMPANIED BY FLAME, SMOKE AND POTENTIAL FIRE.
Remedy: DOUBLE K WILL NOTIFY OWNERS AND PROVIDE INFORMATION ON HOW TO OBTAIN THE RETROFIT KIT FROM CARRIER ALONG WITH REPAIR INSTRUCTIONS. THIS SERVICE WILL BE PERFORMED FREE OF CHARGE. THE MANUFACTURER HAS NOT YET PROVIDED AN OWNER NOTIFICATION SCHEDULE. (SEE CARRIER'S RECALL CAMPAIGN 11E-003.) OWNERS MAY CONTACT CARRIER AT 1-800-793-4741 OR DOUBLE K AT 1-715-478-5090.
NHTSA campaign record ↗12V344000 · Equipment Adaptive/Mobility
Reported: 2012-07-19 (July 19, 2012) · Model years: 2009
Double K is recalling certain model year 2007-2009 Hometown Trolley Villager and model year 2009 Hometown Trolley Mainstreet vehicles equipped with a Braun Vista-2 or Century-2 wheelchair lift. Over time and with frequent use, the roll stop latches on the outer barrier may become bent or misaligned.
Consequence: A wheelchair occupant may defeat or ride over the insufficiently latched roll stop. If this occurs when the lift platform is in an elevated position, the wheelchair's occupant could fall and sustain injury.
Remedy: Double K will notify owners, and the repairs will be performed by authorized Braun dealers free of charge. The safety recall is expected to begin during september 2012. Owners may contact Double K at 1-478-822-2242.
NHTSA campaign record ↗14V209000 · Electrical System
Reported: 2014-04-17 (April 17, 2014) · Model years: 2009, 2010
Double K, Inc. (Double K) is recalling certain model year 2009-2010 Hometown Trolley Villager and Mainstreet trolleys equipped with A&M Systems-brand electric door actuators. Voltage spikes may damage certain electrical components and electrical circuits within the actuator, causing the circuit board to develop high resistance.
Consequence: High resistance may cause the circuit board to overheat, increasing the risk of a fire.
Remedy: Double K has notified owners, and dealers will replace the circuit board, free of charge. The recall began on April 9, 2014. Owners may contact Double K customer service at 1-715-478-5090.

Problems by model year
Model-wide comparison of the eight most reported components across the model. Cells show counts and shares within each model year. Open a cell for source examples.

Emerging complaint spikes
Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.
This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.
No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.
Equal-age model-year comparison
Model-wide cumulative reports during the first three or five calendar years, starting with the model year (age 0). Only fully elapsed windows are compared.
2009: 0 complaints · 2010: 0 complaints
| Model year | Through age 0 | Through age 1 | Through age 2 |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2009 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
| 2010 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
Date coverage across each selected cohort
| Year | Incident dates used | Filing date fallbacks | Excluded dates |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2009 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
| 2010 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
Incident date is preferred when valid and no later than filing; otherwise filing date is used. Model year approximates age. Equal observation time does not adjust for sales, distance driven or reporting delays. One complaint linked to multiple model years can appear in each cohort.
