Recall history

3 distinct campaigns affect this selection. Announcement dates below are different from vehicle model years. A campaign may cover multiple years.

16V891000 · Structure:Motorcycle:Kickstand/Center Stand

Reported: 2016-12-12 (December 12, 2016) · Model years: 2015, 2016

Ducati North America (Ducati) is recalling certain model year 2015-2016 Ducati Scrambler motorcycles manufactured February 17, 2015, to November 11, 2016. The affected vehicles have a side stand pivot nut that can detach, potentially causing the side stand position sensor to no longer function properly.

Consequence: If the side stand position sensor does not function properly, the engine may stall, or the motorcycle may be ridden while the stand is still down. Either scenario increases the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Ducati will notify owners, and dealers will replace the side stand pivot bolt, free of charge. The recall began on begin January 24, 2017. Owners may contact Ducati customer service at 1-800-231-6696. Ducati's number for this recall is SRV-RCL-16-004.

20V781000 · Electrical System:12v/24v/48v Battery:Cables | Engine And Engine Cooling:Exhaust System

Reported: 2020-12-15 (December 15, 2020) · Model years: 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021

Ducati North America (Ducati) is recalling certain 2018-2021 Scrambler 1100 motorcycles. The exhaust valve cable could contact the main positive battery wire and potentially short-circuit.

Consequence: An electrical short-circuit increases the risk of fire.

Remedy: Ducati will notify owners, and dealers will install a new cable guide and self-locking cable tie to the exhaust valve cable, free of charge. The recall began January 22, 2021. Owners may contact Ducati customer service at 1-888-391-5446. Ducati's number for this recall is SRV-RCL-20-003.

21V361000 · Exterior Lighting:Turn Signal

Reported: 2021-05-17 (May 17, 2021) · Model years: 2021

Ducati North America (Ducati) is recalling certain 2021 Scrambler 800 Night Shift motorcycles. The front and rear turn signal lights may not flash brightly enough. As such, these motorcycles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."

Consequence: Turn signal lights that aren't bright enough can reduce other driver's ability to see that the turn signals have been activated, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Dealers will replace the front and rear turn signals, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on June 28, 2021. Owners may contact Ducati customer service at 1-888-391-5446. Ducati's number for this recall is SRV-RCL-21-009.

DURING NORMAL OPERATION, DRIVING STRAIGHT DOWN THE STREET AT ABOUT 40MPH, THE ENGINE SHUT DOWN. WHEN I PULLED TO THE SIDE, AND TURNED THE IGNITION BACK ON, FUEL POURED FROM UNDER THE TANK. WHAT HAD HAPPENED WAS THAT THE CONNECTION BETWEEN THE FUEL LINE AND THE PUMP HAD DISCONNECTED. WHEN I TURNED THE IGNITION BACK ON, THE FUEL PUMP PRIMED, SPEWING THE GASOLINE DOWN THE SIDE OF THE BIKE, OVER THE ENGINE. THE PART DID NOT APPEAR BROKEN, BUT WHEN I WAS ABLE TO GET TO IT, I COULD RECONNECT IT, BUT IT WOULD COME BACK APART VERY EASILY. IT SEEMED TO…

Emerging complaint spikes

Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.

This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.

No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.

The rear brake has become absent. I've had the motorcycle less that 5000 miles and now there's nothing there when i press the brake pedal. The front brake works fine, and that's the one I use mainly. But the rear brake pedal does nothing. I looked online and apparently this is endemic on Ducati motorcycles with Brembo brand rear brakes. Ducati offers no remedy other than paying for a rebuild of the brake assembly at cost. Meanwhile we are riding our bikes with no rear brakes.

After sitting for the winter, I took the motorcycle out for a ride. During the ride, while depressing the rear brake pedal, there was no resistance indicating no braking. While trying to evaluate any braking ability, I depressed the rear brake pedal with no braking effect. I took it back home, and while sitting in the driveway I depressed the rear brake pedal and could see no actuation of the rear brake system.
