Reported: 2009-08-18 (August 18, 2009) · Model years: 2009, 2010

DUTCHMEN IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2009-2010 DUTCHMAN AND FOUR WINDS TRAILERS MANUFACTURED BY DUTCHMAN BECAUSE THEY FAIL TO COMPLY WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF PART 567, "CERTIFICATION." THE FEDERAL IDENTIFICATION TAG TIRE AND LOADING INFORMATION LABEL DOES NOT CONTAIN THE CORRECT SIZE.

Consequence: DURING REPLACEMENT OF THE TIRES, A CONSUMER COULD INSTALL THE INCORRECT TIRE POTENTIALLY LEADING TO A CRASH.

Remedy: DUTCHMAN WILL MAIL THE APPROPRIATE LABELS TO OWNERS FREE OF CHARGE. IF THE CUSTOMER REQUIRES ASSISTANCE INSTALLING THE LABELS, A DEALER WILL INSTALL THE LABEL. THE RECALL IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN ON OR BEFORE SEPTEMBER 4, 2009. OWNERS MAY CONTACT DUTCHMEN AT 1-866-869-1109.

Emerging complaint spikes

Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.

This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.

No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.

Equal-age model-year comparison

Model-wide cumulative reports during the first three or five calendar years, starting with the model year (age 0). Only fully elapsed windows are compared.

Incident date is preferred when valid and no later than filing; otherwise filing date is used. Model year approximates age. Equal observation time does not adjust for sales, distance driven or reporting delays. One complaint linked to multiple model years can appear in each cohort.
