21V568000 · Equipment:Appliance:Oven/Stove/Cooktop | Equipment:Recreational Vehicle/Trailer:Lpg Systems

Reported: 2021-07-26 (July 26, 2021) · Model years: 2020, 2021

Eclipse Recreational Vehicles, Inc. (Eclipse) is recalling certain 2020-2021 Attitude, Stellar, and Iconic trailers equipped with Dometic S31, R731, and R2131 3-burner cooking stoves. The saddle valve securing bolt may be overtightened, possibly damaging the o-ring seal and causing a continuous gas leak.

Consequence: A gas leak can increase the risk of a fire.

Remedy: Dometic service centers will install a remedy kit of gaskets, washers, thread locker bolts, and two round orange labels, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed April 25, 2022. Owners may contact Eclipse customer service at 1-269-342-3184.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 ECLIPSE ICONIC TRAILER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THREE OUT OF THE FOUR BRAKE SEALS FRACTURED AND SPILLED ONTO THE BRAKES. AS A RESULT, THREE OUT OF THE FOUR BRAKES ON THE TRAILER FAILED TO OPERATE. THE FOURTH BRAKE BECAME WARPED DUE TO TAKING ALL OF THE PRESSURE TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE TRAILER WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT THE AXLE, BRAKES, AND WHEEL HUBS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER PROVIDED A CASE NUMBER AND WAS STILL DETERMINING WHETHER OR NOT THEY WOULD COVER THE REPAIRS.

Emerging complaint spikes

Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.

This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.

No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.

Equal-age model-year comparison

Model-wide cumulative reports during the first three or five calendar years, starting with the model year (age 0). Only fully elapsed windows are compared.

Incident date is preferred when valid and no later than filing; otherwise filing date is used. Model year approximates age. Equal observation time does not adjust for sales, distance driven or reporting delays. One complaint linked to multiple model years can appear in each cohort.
