Recall history

5 distinct campaigns affect this selection. Announcement dates below are different from vehicle model years. A campaign may cover multiple years.

05V021000 · Steering:Linkages:Tie Rod Assembly

Reported: 2005-01-21 (January 21, 2005) · Model years: 2000, 2001

ON CERTAIN TRANSIT BUSES EQUIPPED WITH ARVIN-MERITOR AND TRW 20-EDL BALL SOCKET ASSEMBLIES HAVE A LESS ROBUST BEARING DESIGN, WHICH LEADS TO HIGHER WEAR RATES AND MORE RAPID WEAR-OUT THAN PREVIOUS DESIGNS.

Consequence: THIS PREMATURE WEAR-OUT OF THE BALL SOCKET ASSEMBLIES MAY RESULT IN THE SEPARATION OF THE TIE-ROD ASSEMBLY WHICH, IN TURN, COULD LEAD TO A LOSS OF CONTROL OF THE BUS AND POSSIBLE INJURY OF DEATH TO THE OCCUPANTS OF THE BUS IN THE EVENT OF SUCH CRASH.

Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE BALL SOCKET ASSEMBLIES FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL BEGAN ON MAY 28, 2005. OWNERS MAY CONTACT ELDORADO AT 909-591-9557.

02V004003 · Vehicle Speed Control:Accelerator Pedal

Reported: 2002-03-15 (March 15, 2002) · Model years: 2002

ON CERTAIN BUSES EQUIPPED WITH ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL/ACCELERATOR PEDALS SUPPLIED BY WILLIAMS CONTROLS INDUSTRIES. THE WELD ATTACHING THE CLEVIS TO THE PLATE HAS INSUFFICIENT PENETRATION AND COULD ALLOW THE CLEVIS TO SEPARATE FROM THE PLATE.

Consequence: IF THE CLEVIS SEPARATED FROM THE PLATE WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN USE, THE VEHICLE WOULD RETURN TO IDLE, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.

Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THESE PEDALS. OWNER NOTIFICATION AND REMEDY WILL BE HANDLED BY WILLIAMS CONTROL. OWNERS WHO DO NOT RECEIVE THE FREE REMEDY WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME SHOULD CONTACT WILLIAMS CONTROL AT 1-503-684-8600 OR ELDORADO AT 1-909-628-5580.

08V073000 · Engine And Engine Cooling

Reported: 2008-02-15 (February 15, 2008) · Model years: 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007

ELDORADO NATIONAL - CALIFORNIA (ENC) IS RECALLING 106 MY 2004-2007 AXESS, E-Z RIDER II AND TRANSMARK RE REAR ENGINE BUSES BUILT WITH CUMMINS ISL AND ISC DIESEL ENGINES AND EQUIPPED WITH THE CM850 FUEL SYSTEM. THE ENGINE HIGH PRESSURE FUEL LINES FROM THE ENGINE HIGH PRESSURE PUMP TO THE ENGINE FUEL RAIL ARE PRONE TO FAILURE. THE FUEL LINE FAILURES HAVE BEEN DETERMINED TO BE CAUSED BY PROLONGED VIBRATION. FAILURE TYPICALLY OCCURS AT OR UNDER THE FUEL LINE FITTING ATTACHMENTS. FAILURE OF THE FUEL LINE INTRODUCES HIGH PRESSURE ATOMIZED DIESEL FUEL INTO THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT.

Consequence: FUEL INTO THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT CREATES A RISK OF FIRE DUE TO POSSIBLE IGNITION WHEN THE FUEL VAPOR COMES IN CONTACT WITH HOT SURFACES.

Remedy: ENC WILL WORK WITH CUMMINS TO INSTALL A SUPPORT BRACKET ON THE HIGH PRESSURE FUEL LINES FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALLBEGAN ON MARCH 11, 2008. OWNERS MAY CONTACT ELDORADO NATIONAL - CALIFORNIA AT 909-591-9557.

09V407000 · Interior Lighting

Reported: 2009-10-13 (October 13, 2009) · Model years: 2004

ELDORADO NATIONAL IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2002-2010 TRANSIT BUSES, EQUIPPED WITH LUMINATOR HORIZON LED SIDE DESTINATION SIGNS. THE CONNECTOR BOARD CAN CORRODE DUE TO AN ACCUMULATION OF MOISTURE UNDER THE CONNECTOR.

Consequence: A SHORT COULD OCCUR, POSSIBLY CAUSING SMOKE AND FIRE.

Remedy: ELDORADO NATIONAL WILL NOTIFY OWNERS AND REPAIR THE BUSES FREE OF CHARGE. PLEASE SEE LUMINATOR'S DEFECT REPORT 09E-054. THE SAFETY RECALL BEGAN ON OCTOBER 20, 2009. OWNERS MAY CONTACT LUMINATOR AT 1-972-516-3033 OR ELDORADO NATIONAL AT 1-909-591-9557.

14V685000 · Vehicle Speed Control:Accelerator Pedal

Reported: 2014-10-31 (October 31, 2014) · Model years: 2008, 2009

Eldorado National-California, Inc. (Eldorado) is recalling certain model year 2008-2009 Axess, E-Z Rider II, XHF, Escort RE-A, and Transmark RE vehicles manufactured April 1, 2008, to December 30, 2008. The mechanical springs used to return the accelerator pedal to idle after the driver lifts their foot off the pedal may break.

Consequence: If the springs break, the pedal may not return to idle once the driver lifts their foot off the pedal. This unintended acceleration increases the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Eldorado has notified owners, and dealers will replace the affected pedal assemblies, free of charge. The recall began on December 8, 2014. Owners may contact Eldorado customer service at 1-909-591-9557.

Emerging complaint spikes

Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.

This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.

No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.

Equal-age model-year comparison

Model-wide cumulative reports during the first three or five calendar years, starting with the model year (age 0). Only fully elapsed windows are compared.

Incident date is preferred when valid and no later than filing; otherwise filing date is used. Model year approximates age. Equal observation time does not adjust for sales, distance driven or reporting delays. One complaint linked to multiple model years can appear in each cohort.
