Year-by-year records
Recall history
4 distinct campaigns affect this selection. Announcement dates below are different from vehicle model years. A campaign may cover multiple years.
08V038000 · Engine And Engine Cooling:Exhaust System:Manifold/Header/Muffler/Tail Pipe
Reported: 2008-01-28 (January 28, 2008) · Model years: 2006, 2007, 2008
ON CERTAIN SWEEPERS EQUIPPED WITH COMPRESSED NATURAL GAS (CNG), SWEEPING DEBRIS MAY BUILD UP IN FRONT OF THE REAR AXLE AND IN THE EXHAUST DISCHARGE PIPE. UNDER HEAVY SWEEPING CONDITIONS, THE CNG EXHAUST TEMPERATURES CAN EXCEED 800 DEGREES.
Consequence: THE EXHAUST TEMPERATURE COULD IGNITE THE DEBRIS. PERSONNEL NEAR THE STREET SWEEPER COULD BE INJURED OR PROPERTY DAMAGE COULD OCCUR.
Remedy: ELGIN WILL INSTALL A NEW EXHAUST SYSTEM IN THESE VEHICLES THAT WILL REDIRECT THE EXHAUST DISCHARGE AWAY FROM THE ELEVATOR SYSTEM AND DEBRIS. THE RECALL BEGAN ON FEBRUARY 1, 2008. OWNERS MAY CONTACT ELGIN AT 1-877-342-5374.
NHTSA campaign record ↗10V350000 · Suspension
Reported: 2010-07-29 (July 29, 2010) · Model years: 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010
ELGIN SWEEPER IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2007 THROUGH 2010 BROOM BEAR STREET SWEEPERS, MOUNTED IN INTERNATIONAL 4300 CHASSIS ONLY, MANUFACTURED FROM MAY 2007 THROUGH MARCH 2010. THE CHASSIS SUSPENSION REAR CONTROL ARMS AND TOWER MAY NOT HAVE BEEN PROPERLY WELDED TO SPECIFICATION.
Consequence: THE WELDS CAN CRACK CAUSING THE CONTROL ARMS OR TOWER TO SEPARATE FROM THE AXLE. SHOULD THIS OCCUR WHILE THE VEHICLE IS MOTION, THE OPERATOR CAN LOOSE STEERING CONTROL POSSIBLY RESULTING IN PERSONAL INJURY OR DEATH.
Remedy: ELGIN SWEEPER WILL NOTIFY OWNERS AND REPAIRS WILL BE PERFORMED BY CERTIFIED WELDERS FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL BEGAN ON AUGUST 16, 2010. OWNERS MAY CONTACT ELGIN SERVICE DEPARTMENT AT 1-877-342-5374.
NHTSA campaign record ↗18V865000 · Service Brakes, Air
Reported: 2018-12-05 (December 5, 2018) · Model years: 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018
Elgin Sweeper Company Inc. (Elgin) is recalling certain 2015-2018 Elgin Broom Bear, Crosswind, Eagle, Road Wizard, and Whirl Wind street sweepers. The T-fitting installed on the air brake system may fail, causing air to leak, potentially resulting in the parking brake applying unexpectedly. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 121, "Air Brake Systems," and 106, "Brake Hoses."
Consequence: If the parking brake applies unexpectedly, there would be an increased risk of a crash.
Remedy: Elgin will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the street sweepers and replace the T-fittings, as necessary, free of charge. The recall began February 27, 2019. Owners may contact Elgin customer service at 1-877-342-5374.

Remedy: Elgin will notify owners, and dealers will replace the main broom flap support end cap with a newly designed part, free of charge. The recall began on May 11, 2017. Owners may contact Elgin customer service at 1-877-342-5374. Elgin's number for this recall is SB-0201.

Emerging complaint spikes
Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.
This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.
No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.
Equal-age model-year comparison
Model-wide cumulative reports during the first three or five calendar years, starting with the model year (age 0). Only fully elapsed windows are compared.
2017: 0 complaints · 2018: 0 complaints

| 2017 | 0 | 0 | 0 |

Date coverage across each selected cohort
| Year | Incident dates used | Filing date fallbacks | Excluded dates |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2017 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
| 2018 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
Incident date is preferred when valid and no later than filing; otherwise filing date is used. Model year approximates age. Equal observation time does not adjust for sales, distance driven or reporting delays. One complaint linked to multiple model years can appear in each cohort.
