Year-by-year records
Recall history
5 distinct campaigns affect this selection. Announcement dates below are different from vehicle model years. A campaign may cover multiple years.
99V167000 · Fuel System, Gasoline:Delivery
Reported: 1999-06-30 (June 30, 1999) · Model years: 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998
VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: PASSENGER VEHICLES. THE FUEL SUPPLY AND RETURN LINES CAN LEAK IF THE ALUMINUM BARREL NUT ATTACHING THE LINES IS TIGHTENED IN EXCESS OF THE REQUIRED TORQUE.
Consequence: THIS CONDITION COULD RESULT IN FUEL LEAKAGE. FUEL LEAKAGE IN THE PRESENCE OF AN IGNITION SOURCE COULD RESULT IN A FIRE.
Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE FUEL SUPPLY AND RETURN LINES WITH NEW UPDATED LINES, WHICH HAVE THE BARREL NUT MADE OF STEEL.
NHTSA campaign record ↗99V168000 · Visibility:Defroster/Defogger/Hvac System:Heater Core
Reported: 1999-06-30 (June 30, 1999) · Model years: 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998
VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: PASSENGER VEHICLES. THE HEATER HOSES ARE EXPOSED TO THE DRIVER SIDE FOOTWELL.
Consequence: SHOULD A LEAK OCCUR, THE DRIVER'S FOOT COULD GET SCALDED.
Remedy: DEALERS WILL INSTALL A PROTECTIVE PANEL OVER THE HEATER HOSES.
NHTSA campaign record ↗00V087000 · Power Train:Automatic Transmission:Gear Position Indication (Prndl)
Reported: 2000-03-27 (March 27, 2000) · Model years: 1997, 1998
VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: PASSENGER VEHICLES. THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION GEARSHIFT LEVER UTILIZES A THREADED KNOB WITH A RELEASE BUTTON. IF THE THREADED KNOB IS NOT POSITIONED CORRECTLY ON THE LEVER, THE RELEASE WILL NOT FUNCTION CORRECTLY.
Consequence: THE GEAR LEVER COULD BIND RESULTING IN THE INABILITY TO SELECT A DESIRED GEAR, CAUSING THE DRIVER TO BE UNABLE TO MOVE THE VEHICLE CORRECTLY.
Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE GEARSHIFT LEVER THREADED KNOB POSITIONING SPACER.
NHTSA campaign record ↗00V088000 · Power Train:Automatic Transmission:Park/Neutral Start Interlock Switch
Reported: 2000-03-27 (March 27, 2000) · Model years: 1997
VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: PASSENGER VEHICLES. THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION ANTI-SHIFT LOCK ELECTROMAGNET MUST ENGAGE INTO A HOLE IN THE BALANCER IN ORDER TO PREVENT THE GEAR LEVER FROM MOVING OUT OF THE PARK POSITION UNLESS THE BRAKE PEDAL IS DEPRESSED. IF THE BALANCER AND THE ELECTROMAGNET DO NOT LINE UP EXACTLY, THE ENGAGEMENT WILL NOT TAKE PLACE.
Consequence: THE GEAR LEVER COULD BE MOVED FROM THE PARK POSITION WITH THE DRIVER DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL, RESULTING IN POSSIBLE UNINTENDED MOVEMENT OF THE VEHICLE.
Remedy: DEALERS WILL INSTALL A NEW STYLE ANTI-SHIFT LOCK BALANCER.
NHTSA campaign record ↗00V065000 · Service Brakes, Hydraulic:Foundation Components:Hoses, Lines/Piping, And Fittings
Reported: 2000-03-02 (March 2, 2000) · Model years: 1999
VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: PASSENGER VEHICLES. BRAKE AND CLUTCH FLUID RESERVOIR HOSES MAY NOT BE RESISTANT TO BRAKE FLUID, WHICH COULD CAUSE FAILURE OF THE HOSES.
Consequence: SHOULD A HOSE FAILURE OCCUR, THE BRAKE FAILURE LIGHT WOULD LIGHT UP, FOLLOWED BY LOSS OF VEHICLE BRAKING EFFICIENCY.
Remedy: DEALERS WILL INSPECT THE HOSES AND, IF REQUIRED, INSTALL NEW HOSES THAT ARE RESISTANT TO BRAKE FLUID.

Missing, zero and invalid mileage is excluded. Dates after the snapshot are excluded. Examples are limited selections, not a representative sample.
Problems by model year
Model-wide comparison of the eight most reported components across the model. Cells show counts and shares within each model year. Open a cell for source examples.

Darker cells indicate a larger share of submitted complaints. Components overlap. This measures complaint composition, not failure probability.
Failure mileage by component
Median and middle 50% of usable owner-reported mileages. Ranges require at least five records.

Complaint and recall timeline
Explore monthly filing activity alongside recall announcements. Up to ten years of monthly history is available.
Solid line: filed complaints. Dashed amber lines: recall announcement dates for this vehicle selection; markers include all recall components. The latest month is partial. Temporal proximity does not establish causation.

Emerging complaint spikes
Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.
This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.
No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.
Equal-age model-year comparison
Model-wide cumulative reports during the first three or five calendar years, starting with the model year (age 0). Only fully elapsed windows are compared.
1998: 0 complaints · 1999: 0 complaints
| Model year | Through age 0 | Through age 1 | Through age 2 |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1998 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
| 1999 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
Date coverage across each selected cohort
| Year | Incident dates used | Filing date fallbacks | Excluded dates |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1998 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
| 1999 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
Incident date is preferred when valid and no later than filing; otherwise filing date is used. Model year approximates age. Equal observation time does not adjust for sales, distance driven or reporting delays. One complaint linked to multiple model years can appear in each cohort.
Components reported together
