TRANSMISSION SLIPS WHEN BACKING UP. PROBLEM IS PERIODIC BUT IS BAD ENOUGH THAT THE CAR WOULD BE SLOW TO REACT TO EMERGENCIES SUCH AS BACKING FROM INTERSECTION WHEN IT OCCURS. PROBLEM OCCURS WHEN CAR IS WARMED UP AND MOST OFTEN WHEN GOING FROM FORWARD TO STOP TO BACKING. WHILE PARKING THIS PROBLEM CAUSES THE CAR TO STALL AND THEN LURCH BACKWARDS.

DRIVING DOWN VERY BUSY STREET AND VEHICLE STALLED AS I PULLED UP TO TRAFFIC LIGHT AND CAME TO A STOP. AS MANY AS 3-4 TIMES I WAS ALMOST REAR ENDED WHILE TRYING TO GET VEHICLE STARTED. PROBLEM SEEMED TO ONLY OCCUR WHEN FUEL TANK IS BELOW 1/2 TANK AND I WOULD NOTICE FUEL FILL PORT FLAPPER VIBRATING AND SUCKING AIR INTO FUEL TANK. PHEV sometimes fails to "start". That is, vehicle will not enter "Ready" mode when brake is depressed and Start button is pressed. Instead, 'Refuel Error', 'Stop Safely Now', 'Service AdvancTrac', 'PreCollision Assist Not Available', and several other warnings appear. This only occurs on the first 'start' of the day, when the EV battery has been recharged overnight, indoors. Outdoor use/charging does not have this effect. Concerned that something is overheating during indoor charging. Dealer has not been able to fix.

I have a loss of power when accelerating on my 2024 Ford Escape ST Line. This problem isn't all the time, I've noticed when I either fuel or driving off a hill of a driveway, similar to a restaurant hill and when proceeding to drive the vehicle will suddenly stop while I'm accelerating. When I take my foot off the accelerator then tap on the accelerator again, then it drives. This problem happens when driving in traffic. While driving on the interstate a fire started under the hood and shortly after smoke entered the driver cabin. Luckily I was able to pull over and get out of the vehicle before the fire reached the driver cabin. It is going to be investigated by a company hired by AAA, the appraiser from the insurance company was not able to find a cause due to the fire damage being too bad. The first warning message was engine coolant overtemperature and a couple of others followed.

I'm having to fill my reservoir with coolant. There is an indicator on dashboard that states coolant low. I can't see any visible leaks under the hood or on the ground. I am not sure if the 2015 ford escapes are apart of a recall like the 2014 escapes. The lack of coolant circulation could cause the engine to overheat and experience a crack in the cylinder head. A cracked head can cause pressurized oil leaks, oil that can leak onto hot engines. There had been reported fires.

IT IS AT THE SHOP TODAY BUT THERE ARE NO LIGHTS ON NOW SO I DON'T KNOW IF THEY WILL BE ABLE TO FIND THE PROBLEM.

WHEN ACCELERATING ON A HIGHWAY (GOING 55 - 60 MPH) VEHICLE ABRUPTLY SHIFTS GEAR AND SLOWS DOWN ON ITS OWN TO THE POINT OF THINKING THE VEHICLE HAS STOPPED. While driving home going about 40 mph my Ford Escape lost acceleration and then completely shut off IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD! I was able to "limp" it to the side of the street where it would not start at all. I then placed it in reverse (as I was on a hill) to roll it backwards into a neighborhood to get it out of the way of on coming traffic. It was 10 PM at night! I waited for a few minutes and was able to get it to start but not change gears. I was able to get it to my neighborhood with hazards on going barely 10mph. It literally rolled int…

Check engine light is on at 63,000 miles. Ford dealer confirmed coolant in cylinder and immanent total engine failure, so vehicle is not safe to drive as it may stop at any time and loss of coolant. Only indication is the check engine light. Dealer quoted repairs for engine, turbo, and cat converter replacement at over $18,000. Research on the internet reveals that this is a common failure. Since the warranty is out of the time and 3k over the covered range they will do absolutely nothing to remedy the issue. The sticker price on the Esca…

I WAS CRUISING AT ABOUT 35-40MPH ON CITY STREET. SUDDENLY THE MOTOR PRACTICALLY QUIT. THE VEHICLE IMMEDIATELY SLOWED DOWN TO ABOUT 5 MPH. THE "STABILITY CONTROL" WARNING LIGHT CAME ON. LUCKILY, THERE WERE NO VEHICLES BEHIND ME ON THAT 9:20 PM SUNDAY 7/24. THE PROBLEM WAS SOLVED AFTER DOING WHAT THE MANUAL ADVISED: TURN OFF THE MOTOR, RESTART (AFTER A FEW MINUTE AT LEAST, I FOUND OUT). THE NEXT MORNING AND AFTER STARTING THE MOTOR, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I HAD FORD DEALERSHIP CHECK THE VEHICLE THAT MORNING.
