Recall history

2 distinct campaigns affect this selection. Announcement dates below are different from vehicle model years. A campaign may cover multiple years.

90V121000 · Service Brakes, Air:Controls, Pedals And Linkages

Reported: 1990-06-25 (June 25, 1990) · Model years: 1989, 1990

SECONDARY SERVICE RESERVOIR AIR CHECK VALVES MAY NOT SEAT PROPERLY DUE TO A MECHANICAL INTERFERENCE CONDITION BETWEEN A CIRCULAR BRASS GUIDE AND THE WALL OF A CYLINDRICAL FERRULE IN WHICH THE BRASS GUIDE IS INTENDED TO MOVE FREELY.

Consequence: IN THE EVENT OF PRESSURE LOSS IN THE SUPPLY RESERVOIR,A DEFECTIVE CHECK VALVE WOULD ALLOW PRESSURE EQUALIZATION BETWEEN PRIMARY ANDSECONDARY SERVICE RESERVOIRS, PRESENTING THE POTENTIAL FOR LOSS OR ABSENCE OFFRONT BRAKING ABILITY, WHICH COULD CAUSE LOSS OF CONTROL AND AN ACCIDENT.

Remedy: INSTALL REVISED DESIGN SECONDARY SERVICE RESERVOIR CHECK VALVE COMPONENTS.

95V092000 · Electrical System:Wiring

Reported: 1995-05-09 (May 9, 1995) · Model years: 1994, 1995

A CONNECTOR IN THE WIRING WHERE THE TILT HOOD MOUNTED LAMPS ATTACH TO THE VEHICLE WIRING HARNESS WAS BUILT WITHOUT SEALING PLUGS. MOISTURE, ROAD SALT OR OTHER CONTAMINANTS CAN ENTER THE CONNECTION RESULTING IN CROSSED CIRCUITS, SHORTS OR CORROSION OF THE WIRING OF THE CONNECTOR.

Consequence: THE HEADLAMPS OR OTHER FRONT-END LIGHTING SYSTEMS CAN MALFUNCTION AS A RESULT OF THIS CONDITION INCREASING THE POTENTIAL FOR A VEHICLE ACCIDENT.

Remedy: DEALERS WILL INSPECT THE CONNECTOR AND INSTALL SEALING PLUGS IN THE OPEN CAVITIES. IF THE INSPECTION REVEALS CORROSION, A NEW CONNECTOR WILL BE INSTALLED.

Emerging complaint spikes

Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.

This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.

No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.

Equal-age model-year comparison

Model-wide cumulative reports during the first three or five calendar years, starting with the model year (age 0). Only fully elapsed windows are compared.

Incident date is preferred when valid and no later than filing; otherwise filing date is used. Model year approximates age. Equal observation time does not adjust for sales, distance driven or reporting delays. One complaint linked to multiple model years can appear in each cohort.
