On March 18, 2024, my 2024 Ford Maverick XLT Hybrid had just over 1,000 miles on it. When I finally got stopped at the STOP sign, everything shut down. No accelerator, now power and the transmission dial locked after I put it in Park. While driving my hybrid Maverick on the interstate at approximately 75 mph, I accelerated to overtake another vehicle going up a slight hill (very slight). The truck shudders when turning off the ICE and switching to electric. It has progressively gotten worse since around 5000 miles. Group research on online forums suggests this is the damper on the flywheel. Because it's progressively getting worse, even at 8000 miles, I am concerned it will leave me stranded when the whole transmission blows apart. It makes an awful noise that sounds like grinding when the shuddering occurs. It does not happen every time the engine turns off, but the entire transition between electric and ICE is extremely rough…

The vehicle has grade assist braking, which cannot be disabled. At speeds below 35mph this braking is too strong and cannot be properly controlled with throttle input. When using remote start (cold mornings here) the truck will run for 15 minutes. Both inside and outside the vehicle I smell what seems like plastic burning. The last time it happened I looked under the hood while it was dark out and what appears to be a catalytic converter on the back side of the motor was glowing red hot. I use a trickle charger to recharge it for 4 hours, then it functioned as normal for one day, I went to the dealer for service and they looked at it and said there was nothing wrong and sent me home.
