18V053000 · Equipment

Reported: 2018-01-15 (January 15, 2018) · Model years: 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019

Foretravel, Inc. (Foretravel) is recalling certain 2004-2019 U270, U295, U320, Nimbus, Phenix, Realm, and ih-45 motorhomes. These vehicles are equipped with Kidde Plastic-Handle or Push Button 'Pindicator' Fire Extinguishers that may become clogged, preventing the extinguisher from discharging as expected or requiring excessive force to activate the extinguisher. Additionally, in certain models, the nozzle may detach from the valve assembly with enough force that it could cause injury and also render the product inoperable. For a full list of the affected fire extinguisher models visit: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2017/RMISC-17E062-5427.pdf

Consequence: In the event of a fire, if the fire extinguisher does not function properly, it can increase the risk of injury.

Remedy: Foretravel will notify owners, and instruct them to contact Kidde for a replacement fire extinguisher, free of charge. The recall began on February 6, 2018. Owners may contact Foretravel customer service at 1-936-564-8367, or Kidde customer service toll free at 1-855-262-3540, or online at www.kidde.com and click on "Product Safety Recall" for more information.

There was a fire in our Aquahot system that melted a relay, burned through wires, and has led to ongoing problems with the Aquahot for the past 4 years. The first repair facility indicated that the Aquahot was installed with the hot water connection directly over one of the relays. When this connection leaked, it leaked directly onto the relay, which was unshielded in any way. This problem was both predictable and preventable and represents a very serious, and potentially deadly, design flaw. At some point, after purchasing the RV, it was d…

Emerging complaint spikes

Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.

This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.

No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.

Equal-age model-year comparison
