Year-by-year records
Recall history
4 distinct campaigns affect this selection. Announcement dates below are different from vehicle model years. A campaign may cover multiple years.
17V452000 · Equipment
Reported: 2017-07-17 (July 17, 2017) · Model years: 2018
Daimler Trucks North America (DTNA) is recalling certain 2018 Freightliner Cascadia, M2 Business Class, 114SD, and 122SD trucks, and Western Star 4700 and 5700 trucks. These vehicles have tow hooks used for recovery purposes that may fail during use.
Consequence: If the tow hook fails without warning during a recovery operation, the sudden release of the vehicle may increase the risk of injury.
Remedy: DTNA will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the vehicle's tow hooks and, depending on their production date codes, will replace them, free of charge. The recall began on September 14, 2017. Owners may contact DTNA customer service at 1-800-745-8000. DTNA's number for this recall is FL-742.
NHTSA campaign record ↗19V370000 · Service Brakes, Air:Supply:Reservoir/Tank
Reported: 2019-05-14 (May 14, 2019) · Model years: 2018, 2019
Daimler Trucks North America LLC (DTNA) is recalling certain 2004-2019 Freightliner 108SD, 114SD, 122SD, Cascadia, Columbia, Classic, FL80, FLD 120SD, Business Class M2, Western Star 4700, 4900, 6900, Sterling Acterra, L7500, LT7500, L8500, LT8500, L9500, and LT9500 vehicles. The vehicles may have an insufficient service brake air reservoir capacity. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 121, "Air Brake Systems."
Consequence: An insufficient air reservoir volume may reduce brake effectiveness, increasing the risk of crash.
Remedy: DTNA will notify owners, and dealers will add air reservoir capacity to the affected vehicles. Owner letters were mailed on November 29, 2021. Owners may contact DTNA customer service at 1-800-547-0712. DTNA's number for this recall is FL-815.
NHTSA campaign record ↗19V367000 · Service Brakes, Air:Disc
Reported: 2019-05-14 (May 14, 2019) · Model years: 2019
Daimler Trucks North America LLC (DTNA) is recalling certain 2019 Freightliner 108SD, 114SD, Business Class M2, Cascadia, Western Star 5700, and FCCC XC Chassis vehicles equipped with air disc brakes. The brake caliper mounting bolts may have been insufficiently tightened.
Consequence: Loose brake caliper mounting bolts may reduce the brake effectiveness, increasing the risk of crash.
Remedy: DTNA will notify the owners and affected vehicle manufacturers, and DTNA dealers will inspect and repair the vehicles, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin July 12, 2019. Owners may contact DTNA customer service at 1-800-547-0712. DTNA's number for this recall is FL-816.

Reported: 2021-05-26 (May 26, 2021) · Model years: 2019
Daimler Trucks North America, LLC (DTNA) is recalling certain 2019 Freightliner eBusiness Class M2 vehicles equipped with 14Xe ePowertrains. The stator assembly wires may have been insufficiently crimped, causing high resistance, overheating, and preventing the high voltage system from starting.
Consequence: A loss of power to the system may cause a loss of drive power, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy: Dealers will replace the motor stator, free of charge. All units were remedied by July 13, 2021. Owners may contact DTNA customer service at 1-800-547-0712. DTNA's number for this recall is FL-889.

Emerging complaint spikes
Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.
This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.
No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.
Equal-age model-year comparison
Model-wide cumulative reports during the first three or five calendar years, starting with the model year (age 0). Only fully elapsed windows are compared.
2018: 0 complaints · 2019: 0 complaints
| Model year | Through age 0 | Through age 1 | Through age 2 |

| 2018 | 0 | 0 | 0 |

Date coverage across each selected cohort
| Year | Incident dates used | Filing date fallbacks | Excluded dates |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2018 | 5 | 0 | 0 |
| 2019 | 8 | 0 | 0 |
Incident date is preferred when valid and no later than filing; otherwise filing date is used. Model year approximates age. Equal observation time does not adjust for sales, distance driven or reporting delays. One complaint linked to multiple model years can appear in each cohort.
