Hyundai Motor America and Genesis Motor America are recalling my 2017 Genesis G80 vehicle to address a risk with anti-lock break system (ABS) modules because it could malfunction internally and case an electrical short over time potentially resulting in engine compartment fire. I contacted the dealership and they claim that do not have the required part to resolve the issue. Also they do not have an estimated delivery date for the part. Please advise.

THE CAR RANDOMLY DOES NOT TURN ON WHEN I PRESS THE START BUTTON. NOTHING HAPPENS. IT'S NOT THE KEY FOB EITHER BECAUSE ABSOLUTELY NOTHING WORKS IN THE CAR AT THAT POINT. I CAN'T OPEN THE TRUNK USING THE BUTTON INSIDE THE CAR, LOCK OR UNLOCK THE DOORS, NOTHING. THE CAR IS ESSENTIALLY A USELESS HUNK OF METAL. AFTER ABOUT 15-20 MINUTES THOUGH, THE CAR WILL JUST RANDOMLY TURN ON. I DON'T PRESS THE START BUTTON - IT'LL JUST TURN ON. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON 3 SEPARATE OCCASIONS SO FAR.

The entire instrument panel/cluster went out while driving. It did come back on after going totally black. We had no ability to see speed, fuel, or any cameras. This happened yesterday, May 13, 2025. We are trying to get an appointment at the dealership to address it. There does not appear to be any error codes recorded by the vehicle for this event, according to the app. It appears that this problem is the same as an existing recall for G80 vehicles through 2024. Genesis and NHTSA needs to add 2025 models to this recall (026G)

There are multiple complaints about this in a Genesis blog, and dealers are unable to reproduce the problem to find the problem. Component: Engine / Turbocharger / Oil Line / Fire Risk Vehicle Problem: For the past five months, my oil light has been coming on and off sporadically (not flickering), even though mechanics and oil shops said there was no issue. It took a few seconds to realize what was going on. When the dashboard lit back up I was going over 100 mph. I quickly applied the brakes which disengaged it. It never happened again. There is a known issue with these vehicles where the Oil Pressure Sensor/Switch triggers at idle and low RPMs but nothing is necessarily wrong other than the sensor itself. However, since the sensor malfunctions, owners can’t know if the pressure is actually bad or if oil levels are normal. This is a safety concern for all owners. However, Genesis is requiring owners to pay around $3000 to repair this. Most of the models are 2017-2019, which are past its manufacturer warranty years.

I was made aware that my car has a recall. I took it to the dealership (World Car Kia Hyundai North, San Antonio, TX) to get fixed and they told me that there is no remedy for it. I stressed to them that I was worried about my car and that I have a child that is always in the car with me. They told me to keep looking on google and that google would tell me when there is a fix. I would like a different car or my money back but it seems like they will not do that for me.

For over one year we have been in contact with Round Rock Genesis in Round Rock, Texas about recalls # 254 & 018G (NHTSA Recall # 24V107000). Our Genesis G80 is now 6 years old. Steering becomes unresponsive after highway speed for an hour or more. Feels like sticking or binding (loss of power assist?) and considerable effort needed to adjust vehicle direction. Most notable on exit ramps. Several times I came close to going off an exit ramp onto the shoulder. Even driving along a straight highway the steering is no longer smooth or consistent. Thus, steering is very unpredictable. This is definitely a safety issue. This started at 29,000 mile about 2 weeks ago and has not gone away. The first dealer service appointmen…

WHILE DRIVING ON AN INCLINE TOWARD A STOP SIGN, THE VEHICLE TURNED OFF. WHILE MOVING FORWARD AS CARS PULLED OUT OF THE STOP SIGN THE CAR LURCHED (SIMILAR TO IF YOU WERE HIT FROM BEHIND) AND ALL SCREENS WENT DARK AND ALL ELECTRONICS WENT OFF. EVERYTHING CAME BACK ON WITHIN 1-2 SECONDS AND THE CAR PROCEEDED AS NORMAL.

Approximately May or June of 2022 I noticed my 2017 Genesis g80 began intermittently hesitating and hard shifting when I was driving so being that I hadn't had it even a year I contacted the dealer and Genesis. I was told the warranty was up with Genesis and advised to contact the extended warranty by Carvana (the dealer). I did, but when they didn't have any shops in network who felt comfortable working on my vehicle and a recall came up with the vehicle I contacted Genesis again and was sent to an authorized dealer who fixed the recall and al…

When turning, steering wheel sticks and does not return to center. It is necessary to use some additional effort to force the wheel back to center. No warning lamps or diagnostic trouble codes. Clear safety issue that has been documented by numerous other owners of the Genesis G80, and a known issue by Hyundai Motors / Genesis, as they will replace the Rack Mounted Motor-Driven Power Steering Assembly under the manufacturer's warranty. My vehicle is a few months out of warranty, with estimated repair cost of approximately $5k. For all owners of…
