VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: CHASSIS CABS. ON SOME OF THESE VEHICLES, EITHER OR BOTH OF THE TWO BODY PRESSURE RELIEF VALVES (PRV) MAY NOT SEAL AND COULD BECOME INOPERATIVE DURING THE LIFE OF THE VEHICLE IF THE BODY INSTALLED ON THE VEHICLE DOES NOT PROTECT THE PRV FROM ROAD DEBRIS.
Consequence: IF A PRV DOES NOT SEAL, EXHAUST FUMES COULD ENTER INTO THE PASSENGER CAB AND COULD CAUSE POSSIBLE ILLNESS, UNCONSCIOUSNESS, OR DEATH.
Remedy: DEALERS WILL INSPECT THE VEHICLE TO ENSURE THAT THE PRVS ARE PROTECTED BY THE BODY OF THE VEHICLE. IF THE PRVS ARE NOT PROTECTED BY THE BODY, THE DEALER WILL INSTALL NEW SHIELDED PRVS.
Inspect model-year patterns, reported mileage, monthly activity and the evidence behind each signal.

THE DAY I RENTED THE UHAUL I HAD SEVERAL PROBLEMS, MOST BOTHERSOME WAS ONE PARTICULAR EMPLOYEE. I ACTUALLY CALLED 1800GOUHAUL THAT MORNING AND HELD FOR OVER 25 MINUTES TO VOICE MY COMPLAINT. I WAS TOLD THAT A REPRESENTATIVE WOULD CONTACT ME, YET I HAVE HEARD NOTHING. THE TRUCK (GH4718B AB96170 AZ) DROVE FINE, BUT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON ABOUT 1 MILE AWAY FROM THE RENTAL CENTER. I MADE A U-TURN ON THE HIGHWAY AND WHILE DRIVING IT BACK TO UHAUL, THE EMERGENCY BRAKE SELF DEPLOYED CAUSING THE TRUCK TO JACKKNIFE, THE BRAKES TO SMOKE AND…
Darker cells indicate a larger share of submitted complaints. Components overlap. This measures complaint composition, not failure probability.

Emerging complaint spikes
Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.
This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.
No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.
Equal-age model-year comparison

Incident date is preferred when valid and no later than filing; otherwise filing date is used. Model year approximates age. Equal observation time does not adjust for sales, distance driven or reporting delays. One complaint linked to multiple model years can appear in each cohort.
