Owner report 11584326 · 2024-04-21 (April 21, 2024)

I was driving with my cruise control set at 77 mph in the fast lane of a four-lane highway. There was no one in front of me for more than 3/4 of a mile. A car in the lane to my right apparently triggered the automatic breaking system to the point it slammed on my brakes, pushed me into the steering wheel, and slowed me all the way to 38 mph in the fast lane of the freeway. The result of this unrequested breaking caused four cars behind me to almost rear end me and pile up. The second event was going down the freeway with the cruise control set …

Battery dies during vehicle update spontanteniouly. After jumoing vehicle to start it all systems will not return to normal causing brakes not to function normally. I jumped my vehicle after one system update and brakes failed to engage almost causing an acident. these vehicles should not be on the road due to the software safety flaws. GMC is aware of this and still have no fix for the problem. There are numerous accounts of this happening to this vehicle on forums and solcial media.

Vehicle whole system was non existent. No interior lighting, no door chime when opened, no response. Mechanic took a look and found alternator not good. It’s not charging the battery and advised me to tow it to warranty repair shop. Advised me if I were driving and vehicle died I would not have power or control of vehicle and cause serious injury or death. Lucky I was parked at home and attempted to start vehicle to leave home. No repairs done yet, vehicle is still at home waiting for an appointment.

Owner report 11602956 · 2024-07-17 (July 17, 2024)

The valve body on GM's 8 speed transmission is a known fail point for many GM truck owners. I believe the NHTSA should investigate this for the extreme risk of an accident. My truck has been inoperable for a month awaiting a back ordered part. When driven, the truck displays erratic behavior and will downshift and decelerate rapidly and without warning. The risk of being rear-ended is very high.

In May 2024, the engine idled rough and transmission shifted hard, I was told me it was normal, and I would have to wait 2 yrs to make a transmission appointment.

With 94 Miles my brand new GMC Canyon AT4 I leased had a catastrophic failure while i was driving it, the front axle essentially exploded. The findings were that their was no oil/lubricant installed in it from the factory which made this happen. I now have to wait many months for the dealership to repair my vehicle while i have a "loaner" with a bunch of restrictions on it. And i have to pay my lease the entire time it is being worked on because of a factory fault. If i had been going more than 25 mph this would have resulted in a crash/injury.…

When the right turn signal cancels after completing a right turn, the left turn signal activates, flashing 3 times. This appears to be the result of a defective design with the turn signal level. The dealer has acknowledged the problem and has stated that there is a bulletin from GM from several months ago which does not provide any resolution to the issue. This is a safety issue since the turn signals are not operating correctly, which could confuse other drivers.

Where to begin... As I bought my first truck, literally within 10 days after buying the GMC Canyon 2024, the car is shaking uncontrollably on the highway... 35 MPH max speed, extremely dangerous situation, 8 AM on a busy Watterson Expressway in Louisville, KY. I was so scared I was going to crash and potentially get hurt or worse. They told me "they had never seen this happen to a Canyon before" which is obviously a lie. The car was serviced for 21 calendar days, and now my lights are spotty and I can't drive my car at night. I got this truck…

Advised me if I were driving and vehicle died I would not have power or control of vehicle and cause serious injury or death. Lucky I was parked at home and attempted to start vehicle to leave home.
