7 distinct campaigns affect this selection. Announcement dates below are different from vehicle model years. A campaign may cover multiple years.
76V198000 · Service Brakes, Hydraulic:Foundation Components:Hoses, Lines/Piping, And Fittings
Reported: 1976-12-10 (December 10, 1976) · Model years: 1977
NHTSA campaign record ↗78V107000 · Fuel System, Gasoline:Delivery:Hoses, Lines/Piping, And Fittings
Reported: 1978-05-15 (May 15, 1978) · Model years: 1978
ON THE INVOLVED VEHICLES, AN INTERFERENCE CONDITION MAY EXIST BETWEEN THE CARBURETOR FUEL PIPE ASSEMBLY AND THE AIR CONDITIONING BRACKET. THIS COULD EVENTUALLY CAUSE THE PIPE TO WEAR THROUGH DUE TO VIBRATION AND FUEL PRESSURE PULSATION.
Remedy: DEALER WILL INSPECT AND, IF NECESSARY, REPOSITION THE CARBURETOR FUEL PIPE AT NO CHARGE.
Reported: 1979-06-06 (June 6, 1979) · Model years: 1979
ON THE INVOLVED VEHICLES THE BRAKE STOPLIGHT AND CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH WHICH IS OPERATED BY THE BRAKE PEDAL MAY HAVE BEEN ASSEMBLED WITH AN INCORRECT LUBRICANT ON THE ACTUATING PLUNGER. THIS CAN CAUSE THE REAR BRAKE STOPLIGHTS TO BECOME INOPERATIVE AND THE CRUISE CONTROL, IF ACTIVATED, TO STAY ELECTRICALLY ENGAGED.
Remedy: DEALER WILL INSPECT AND, IF NECESSARY, REPLACE THE BRAKE STOPLIGHT AND CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH AT NO COST TO OWNER.
Reported: 1991-10-21 (October 21, 1991) · Model years: 1992
A MISADJUSTED TRANSMISSION CABLE CAN ALLOW THE ENGINE TO BE STARTED WHILE THE TRANSMISSION IS IN A FORWARD OR REVERSE DRIVE GEAR.
Consequence: THE VEHICLE CAN BE STARTED AND THEN MOVE IN AN UNEXPECTEDDIRECTION, RESULTING IN A VEHICLE CRASH WITHOUT PRIOR WARNING. THE VEHICLE ALSOFAILS TO COMPLY WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF FMVSS 102.
Remedy: RESET THE TRANSMISSION CABLE ROUTING TO A REVISED PATHWAY.
Reported: 1994-03-23 (March 23, 1994) · Model years: 1993
THESE VEHICLES WERE EQUIPPED WITH INCORRECT SPARE WHEELS. THE USE OF AN INCORRECT SPARE WHEEL IN A MOUNTED POSITION CAN, UNDER CERTAIN LOAD CONDITIONS, EVENTUALLY CAUSE THE WHEEL TO CRACK AND POSSIBLY SEPARATE FROM THE VEHICLE.
Consequence: SHOULD THE WHEEL CRACK AND SEPARATE FROM THE VEHICLE, LOSS OF VEHICLE CONTROL CAN OCCUR, RESULTING IN A VEHICLE CRASH WITHOUT WARNING.
Reported: 1995-10-17 (October 17, 1995) · Model years: 1995
THESE VEHICLES WERE BUILT WITH A SLIDING SIDE-DOOR REAR LATCH THAT WAS IMPROPERLY RIVETED. THIS DOES NOT MEET THE REQUIREMENTS OF FMVSS NO. 206, "DOOR LOCKS AND DOOR RETENTION COMPONENTS."
Consequence: CONSEQUENCE OF NON-COMPLIANCE: IN THE EVENT OF A VEHICLE CRASH, THE DOOR WILL NOT PERFORM AS REQUIRED BY THE STANDARD.
Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE SLIDING DOOR REAR LATCH ON ALL SUSPECT VEHICLES.
Reported: 1999-05-19 (May 19, 1999) · Model years: 1995
VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: CHEVROLET AND GMC G VANS EQUIPPED WITH SLIDING SIDE DOORS AND REMEDIED DURING SAFETY CAMPAIGN (95V197/95-C-58) BETWEEN JULY 18, 1997 AND FEBRUARY 6, 1999. THE SLIDING SIDE-DOOR REAR LATCH WAS REPLACED WITH A LATCH THAT WAS IMPROPERLY RIVETED.
Consequence: IN THE EVENT OF A VEHICLE CRASH, THE DOOR MAY NOT PERFORM AS REQUIRED AND INCREASED INJURIES COULD RESULT.
Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE SLIDING DOOR REAR LATCH.

AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION SUN GEAR HAS A HIGH RATE OF FAILURE, PER DEALERSHIP. WHEN IT FAILS REVERSE GEAR MALFUNCTIONS, AND THEN ALL OTHER GEARS FAIL TO FUNCTION. DEALERSHIP INDICATED THAT TRANSMISSION NEEDED REINFORCEMENT BY USING THICKER MATERIAL FOR THE COLLAR SPINE. THIS PART FAILED TWICE WITHIN 11,000 MILES. *AK
Darker cells indicate a larger share of submitted complaints. Components overlap. This measures complaint composition, not failure probability.

Emerging complaint spikes
Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.
This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.
No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.
Equal-age model-year comparison

Incident date is preferred when valid and no later than filing; otherwise filing date is used. Model year approximates age. Equal observation time does not adjust for sales, distance driven or reporting delays. One complaint linked to multiple model years can appear in each cohort.
