BRAKES FAILED AND I HAD TO SWERVE INTO ONCOMING LANE TO AVOID A REAR END COLLISION. PEDAL WENT TO FLOOR AND SECONDARY BRAKE SYSTEM BROUGHT THE TRUCK TO A STOP. INVESTIGATION SHOWED SEVERE RUSTING OF BRAKE LINES THROUGHOUT THE VEHICLE. THE TRAGEDY OF THIS IS THAT THIS TRUCK COST OVER $60,000 AND FOR PROBABLY $10 MORE AT THE TIME OF MANUFACTURE, GM COULD HAVE INSTALLED STAINLESS STEEL BRAKE LINES OR AT LEAST SOMETHING WITH SOME CORROSION TREATMENT. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 1993 GMC RALLY/VANDURA G2500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 15 MPH, HE NOTICED SMOKE COMING FROM THE VENTS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE CONTACT'S HOME AND PARKED. MINUTES LATER, THE VEHICLE EXPLODED IN FLAMES. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS CALLED AND ISSUED AN INVESTIGATION REPORT STATING THAT THE CAUSE OF THE FIRE WAS AN ELECTRICAL FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE INCIDENT. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 150,000. ## VIN PASSED ## 1993 GMC SHERROD VAN ##
