Owner report 11585882 · 2024-04-29 (April 29, 2024)

I was driving my vehicle, with my 9-year-old son in the back, when it seemed to completely lose power and shut down (while I was driving!). The power steering, brakes, and gas all gave out. I was able to steer myself toward the side of the road where I waited for a tow. The vehicle would not start, nor would it shift into neutral, which led to towing challenges. This is a 2024 vehicle that I've had for about eight months, and it completely gave out while I was driving with a child in the back, which is a significant safety concern. Nobody a…

Called multiple dealerships and found out there is a known problem with the valve body for the transmission in these vehicles, which mine is currently being towed today to the dealer. This is what happened to me today, I was driving with my two children on the interstate and all of a sudden I had no drive nothing so the speed reduced quickly. On December 25, 2024, my vehicle completely stalled in the middle of the highway while travelling at 65 mph. Fortunately there were no vehicles travelling in close proximity to me at the time as my speed rapidly decreased. The abrupt stall required me to pull over to the side of the road to attempt to restart. I was unable to restart the vehicle despite numerous attempts. Jump starting was also unsuccessful. I was left stranded 90 miles away from home in freezing temperatures during a snowstorm on Christmas night. My vehicle was towed to a …

The driver's side floor mat will not stay in place because the device that is supposed to hold it in place is broken. The floor mat is now able to move forward and interfere with the function of the brake and/or accelerator. Both the dealership (Castle Rock GMC, Colorado) and GMC Customer Care (Case #: 91-11325687695) have ignored all requests to address this and other issues. I have also written letters to GMC Corporate and the Castle Rock GMC General Manager, both of which were also ignored.

To Whom It May Concern, This is a brand new 2024 GMC Sierra AT4 Diesel Truck with 4,000 miles. The first incident occurred when I was doing about 5 mph. The truck maintained its speed without my foot on the gas pedal and the cruise control was not on. Then when I tapped the gas pedal, everything return to normal. The second incident was about 2 weeks later in which the same thing happened. The third incident which was about one week later, I was doing about 5 mph and the truck accelerated on its own. The DIC randomly displays “check trailer wiring” then says “brakes connected” over and over. When this happens the brakes on the trailer quit working, all lights continue to work all the time. It hasn’t been back to the dealer yet but I will take it when I can. Other vehicles have no issues with this trailers brakes when towing. I have replaced the trailer pig tail 7 pin plug, cleaned all connections etc. The only thing that works so far is to disconnect one of 4 electric brakes then the DIC is silent and 3 brakes function. I do not have an official communication from the dealer who is servicing my vehicle. However, they have had my vehicle for almost 3 weeks and they tell me that the engine has failed and needs complete replacement. They said the engine lost compression and quit running, it now cranks and does not start. Although the engine has not been disassembled we believe the point fo failure to be in the rotating assembly of the bottom end of the engine.

Im hearing from other customers with same issue part will take 5-6 months for dealership to receive part. Ever since I bought this truck new, I noticed a lot of metal shavings and debris in the oil filter every single time I changed the oil. I took it to the dealership multiple times to have this looked into before the engine recall came out. The dealership took pictures of the metal and sent them to a General Motors engineer, but the engineer just told them it was "normal." Later on, the truck went in for the official recall inspection, passed the PICO test, and nothing was fixed. Then on August 4, 2026, I was driving on a crowded expressway right…

Emerging complaint spikes

Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.

This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.

No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.
