91V207000 · Service Brakes, Hydraulic:Foundation Components:Hoses, Lines/Piping, And Fittings
Reported: 1991-11-25 (November 25, 1991) · Model years: 1992
THE LINK CONNECTING THE ELECTRONIC REAR HEIGHT SENSOR TO THE REAR AXLE CAN DISCONNECT UNDER SEVERAL CONDITIONS, ALLOWING THE ARM ATTACHED TO THE SENSOR TO LODGE BETWEEN THE REAR AXLE ASSEMBLY AND THE RIGHT REAR BRAKE PIPE. THIS ABRADES THE BRAKE PIPE AND COULD LEAD TO REAR BRAKE FAILURE.
Consequence: ABRASION OF THE BRAKE LINE COULD RESULT IN LOSS OF REARBRAKES. THE FRONT BRAKES WOULD FUNCTION, BUT THE VEHICLE WOULD NEED INCREASEDSTOPPING DISTANCES WHICH COULD RESULT IN AN ACCIDENT.
Remedy: INSTALL RETENTION CLIPS TO INSURE THE LOWER AND UPPER BALL SOCKET CANNOT BE REMOVED FROM THE BALL; ADD A DOWN STOP ON THE SENSOR ARM; AND ADD A SHIELD ON THE REAR AXLE.
Reported: 1993-02-04 (February 4, 1993) · Model years: 1993
SEPARATION OF THE TRANSMISSION SHIFT CABLE FITTING END (VEHICLE INTERIOR) AND THE OUTER CABLE CONDUIT.
Consequence: THIS CONDITION CAN CAUSE THE GEAR SELECT LEVER TO BEPOSITIONED INDEPENDENT OF THE TRANSMISSION POSITION, WHICH MAY CAUSE THETRANSMISSION TO BE INADVERTENTLY LEFT IN A ROLL-AWAY OR IN A DRIVE CONDITION,RESULTING IN A VEHICLE ACCIDENT.

I HAVE BEEN THE SOLE OWNER OF THIS WELL MAINTAINED VEHICLE SINCE IT WAS PURCHASED NEW. I NOTICED GASOLINE LEAKAGE FROM THE GAS TANK ONTO MY GARAGE FLOOR. WHEN REPAIRED BY A GMC DEALERSHIP, I WAS TOLD THAT THE GAS TANK HAD RUSTED THROUGH ON THE TOP SURFACE CAUSING THE LEAK AND REQUIRING REPLACEMENT OF THE GAS TANK. THIS PROBLEM PRESENTED A VERY SERIOUS RISK OF FIRE AND OTHER OWNERS OF THIS VEHICLE MAY BE UNKNOWINGLY AT RISK.*AK

Emerging complaint spikes
Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.
This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.
No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.
Equal-age model-year comparison

Incident date is preferred when valid and no later than filing; otherwise filing date is used. Model year approximates age. Equal observation time does not adjust for sales, distance driven or reporting delays. One complaint linked to multiple model years can appear in each cohort.
