The 'active fuel management/displacement on demand' lifters failed and caused the engine to run very poorly with a significant lack of power. This occurred while driving and could have caused a crash before I was able to get off the road and out of the way of traffic. The problem was diagnosed and confirmed by an independent repair shop. The vehicle had to have the camshaft and all valve lifters replaced, as well as several valves that were damaged in the failure. The total cost to repair was just over $9000. The failure also caused the cata…

The torque converter is too small for the vehicles transmission which then caused it to break and put metal into the transmission fluid. Which cause the transmission to break. My safety was at risk was because while on highway it shot high on RPMs and then made funny noise and wouldn’t go. The problem was confirmed at Aamco transmission where I have to get the transmission rebuilt. There was never a check engine light or check fluid or any codes Thrown before the problem.

We purchased the 2025 GMC Yukon XL on February 26, 2025. While I was heading out on March 24, 2025 I had a total engine failure. No warning sign or warning lamps were present. We had the vehicle towed to Hurd Auto Mall in Johnston Rhode Island where we purchased it. We were told that the engine had seized with only 1,488 miles on it. We saw that over 870,000 GMC engines from 2021-2024 had this same issue and/or have been recalled. We are curious if the 2025 model also have this problem.

My vehicle sustained major damage ($20,000+) to repair according to the body shop. My wife, daughter and myself sustained injuries. My wife and I have significant injuries. I was driving 30 mph when the car went into neutral and rolled to a stop. When I put on the brakes the engine shut off and it went into park. It would not restart or shift out of park . I was stuck in an active busy road. The car was towed to the dealer. They said it was a problem with the BCM. GMC had put out a bullletin which was to reprogram the BCM. My concern is that if this had happened on a busy interstate in traffic at highway speeds the results could have been fatal.

The torque converter is too small for the vehicles transmission which then caused it to break and put metal into the transmission fluid. Which cause the transmission to break.

Luckily I was able to pull over to safety, barely. It was towed to the GMC dealership and waiting for it to be looked at. There were NO warning lights that came on previous to when this happened. I was involved in a traffic collision. A large vehicle turned left in front of me and I t boned that vehicle. We were traveling about 30-35 MPH at the moment of impact. My vehicle sustained major damage ($20,000+) to repair according to the body shop. My wife, daughter and myself sustained injuries. My wife and I have significant injuries. I truly believe, based on vehicle damages, and injuries that our airbags should’ve deployed. I believe it has a fault sensor that should be inspected.

On July 3, 2025 we were traveling on a 4 lane at 55mph. Without any prior symptoms, the vehicle began to shake violently. It shook so hard that the skid warning light simultaneously came on. It was followed by the check engine light. The oil pressure guage started bouncing around. We stopped driving the vehicle and had it towed to VanYork GMC dealer in Asheboro, NC on this same day. (Invoice attached) VanYork GMC determined that cyclinder 5 was misfiring. We paid to have them repair it, and we began driving the vehicle again. (invoice att…

Emerging complaint spikes

Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.

This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.

No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.

There was a pump in the heart of the transmission. The dealer said told me that was leaking fluid. Apparently this was a faulty hose within the transmission which leaked fluid in the transmission. Therefore, my transmission died. This was a severe I could have been a very dangerous situation if my kids had been in the car. I’ve had to pay almost $8000 for the transmission to be fixed and yeah I see that on the line there was some sort of recall but my dealership is saying there was not. The brake lights fail. First the left light failed, and two days later the right light failed. After researching, this is a common problem with GM and these models. The fix is not just a bulb- the whole rear light assemblies (each side) needs replacing with GM price quotes of $900 a side. We were over 1000 miles away from home.

Noting that prior to this we only had one issue with transmission and we did the flush and it did fine for several thousand of miles. Fast forward to a few days ago. As I was driving down the highway I came to a stop at the red light. Once it was green and I pressed on the accelerator with my foot per usual. And it did not move it pushed the gas peddle and nothing at all happened. I was stuck in the highway could not move until I’m assuming the transmission finally shifted jarring my entire car and it allowed me to get to a safe place at 20 mil…
