Owner report 11638219 · 2025-01-24 (January 24, 2025)

While accelerating up to 55MPH, the vehicle automatically shifted into neutral without warning. We tried to shift it back into Drive, nothing happened. We pulled off the road to try and shift in a reduced speed and still nothing. We finally came to a stop and tried to shift it into Drive, still nothing. There was an error message: “conditions not correct for shift”. We place vehicle into Park, turned off the engine and tried to restart. The engine wouldn’t turn over. 2024 gmc Yukon with less than 2,000 miles decided not to start one day. Had a tow truck come to the house and pick it up to take to a local shop to get a new battery. Replaced the battery and the battery shop delivered to car back to our house and was totally fine…the next day we went to start it and again the battery was toast. So, got another tow truck to deliver to the dealership and had it checked out, the dealership says there are 12 codes popping up and they can’t figure out why the batteries are not holding at this point. Owner report 11657786 · 2025-04-30 (April 30, 2025)

My vehicle stalled while driving on a busy highway & I had no option but to pull over, which left me & my family in a very dangerous position. Had to remove my daughter's wheelchair onto a tow truck as the vehicle had no power to use the hoist for her powerchair. Again, on the side of a busy road! Towed the vehicle to a GM dealership, who stated there was catastrophic engine failure & the engine had to be replaced. Had no way to transport my daughter until I got a new engine since her hoist was stuck at the dealership.

I purchased my new GMC Yukon XL in October 2024. In February, with about 9,000 miles on it, I was approaching a highway intersection and beginning to brake. My vehicle put itself into Neutral, and then shut off -- while I was still moving. No dash lights came on, except for a message stating that I needed to press the brake and restart my vehicle. I took my vehicle into the dealership where I purchased it and they kept it for 8 days. They were unable to reproduce the issue and didn't do anything to mitigate the problem except for doing a "…

We purchased the 2025 GMC Yukon XL on February 26, 2025. While I was heading out on March 24, 2025 I had a total engine failure. No warning sign or warning lamps were present. We had the vehicle towed to Hurd Auto Mall in Johnston Rhode Island where we purchased it. We were told that the engine had seized with only 1,488 miles on it. We saw that over 870,000 GMC engines from 2021-2024 had this same issue and/or have been recalled. We are curious if the 2025 model also have this problem.

I was involved in a traffic collision. A large vehicle turned left in front of me and I t boned that vehicle. We were traveling about 30-35 MPH at the moment of impact. My vehicle sustained major damage ($20,000+) to repair according to the body shop. My wife, daughter and myself sustained injuries. My wife and I have significant injuries. I truly believe, based on vehicle damages, and injuries that our airbags should’ve deployed. I believe it has a fault sensor that should be inspected.

I was stuck in an active busy road. The car was towed to the dealer. They said it was a problem with the BCM. GMC had put out a bullletin which was to reprogram the BCM. My engine stopped while I was driving. Unable to accelerate and the car will not start and is dead. Transmission light and DEF service lights came on. Luckily I was able to pull over to safety, barely. It was towed to the GMC dealership and waiting for it to be looked at. There were NO warning lights that came on previous to when this happened. This is a HUGE SAFETY concern for GM and it needs to be a recall because many, many others have reported the same complaints.

2024 Engine failed while moving at 70mph out of state. De-accelerated rapid as I was changing lanes and was almost hit by two vehicles. Once of the interstate, I made it to the shoulder of an exit ramp that was a blind spot. Cars exiting to this ramp almost always had to veer to keep from hitting me. I purchased this vehicle in October 2024, never knew anything about a recall, was never disclosed to me about recalls. Vehicle started making a knocking noise. Made a service appointment. While on the highway, engine suddenly died causing the vehicle to shift into neutral. After stopping on the shoulder, vehicle locked into Park and would not shift back into neutral or start again for tow truck driver. Towed to nearby dealer who said the engine is beyond repair and has to be replaced. Estimated time to get engine and replace is 4 to 6 weeks.

About 4 weeks ago my vehicle began shaking uncontrollably while driving. The check engine light illuminated and multiple warnings appeared including emissions system, variable valve timing system, engine and transmission failures shown on the GMC app. I contacted the selling dealership and was given an appointment 4 days later. Later that day I drove less than 5 miles to pick up my children from school. During that drive the vehicle filled with a strong gasoline odor and exhaust fumes were overwhelming. I feared the vehicle could catch fire. I …

Driving on highway at 80 MPH and accelerator stopped working and car turned off. We had to coast off toll rd and hope for the best. No warning and happened with our whole family in the car. I had a recall notice from manufacturer but last time I tried contacting manufacturer/dealer they said no resolution was available to repair recall yet and that I couldn’t drop off my vehicle.

The car has made a high pitched metallic rattle on cold start ever since I received it. I have taken it into the dealership multiple times for this and have had the lifters in the engine replaced but they never addressed the other noise, which I have video evidence of. The car died at 24,740 miles on the odometer in the middle of a highway in the middle of nowhere. The vehicle started to feel like it was braking on acceleration, there were no warning lights. The vehicle just lost acceleration power and I had to coast to the shoulder. Luckily I…

I am filing this complaint regarding a serious and ongoing safety issue with my GMC Yukon Denali that began with a complete engine failure while driving on the highway with my entire family in the vehicle. While driving at highway speed (about 60–70 mph), the vehicle suddenly lost power and shifted into neutral on its own. While still moving, I tried multiple times to shift back into Drive so I could safely get off the road, but it would not engage. I was only able to coast partially onto the shoulder before the vehicle came to a complete stop,…

On [XXX], while traveling from Florida to Kentucky to visit family for the holidays, our Yukon XL began to make a noise that mimicked that of a car going over Rumble strips on the highway. This happened at approximately the Tennessee Kentucky state lines. We stopped the car and contacted OnStar who then ran a remote diagnostic and stated that they could not tell if anything was wrong with our vehicle and recommend seeking out a GMC repair center once we arrived at our destination. The technician at the GMC dealership after evaluating our vehic…

My wife was driving our 2024 Yukon Denali XL when, without warning or any indications, the engine shut down. She lost power to the car car in the middle of a highway, endangering herself, our children and other drivers on the road. She was unable to restart the car or change the gears. She had to call the police to help and they ordered a tow truck to have the car towed. The car had been in for an oil change 2 days prior at the dealership. We had the car towed there and they confirmed the engine needed to be replaced. Looks like we can add this…
