1 distinct campaigns affect this selection. Announcement dates below are different from vehicle model years. A campaign may cover multiple years.

14V725000 · Exterior Lighting:Turn Signal

Reported: 2014-11-12 (November 12, 2014) · Model years: 2014, 2015

Harley-Davidson Motor Company (Harley-Davidson) is recalling certain model year 2014-2015 FLS Softail motorcycles manufactured March 25, 2013, to October 2, 2014. The affected vehicles may have been manufactured without lamp-outage detection for the front turn signals. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."

Consequence: Without the turn signal lamp outage indicator, the rider may not be aware that a front turn signal is not working. And without working front turn signals, there is an increased risk of a crash.

Remedy: Harley-Davidson will notify owners, and dealers will correct the body control module software, free of charge. The recall began November 24, 2014. Owners may contact Harley-Davidson customer service at 1-800-258-2464. Harley-Davidson's number for this recall is 0618.

MY 2015 FLS HAS JUST UNDER 700 MILES ON IT & THE SPEEDOMETER BROKE YESTERDAY. STUCK ON 60MPH. IT DROPPED BACK DOWN TO 0 AFTER SITTING FOR A HALF HOUR, BUT STUCK AGAIN AS SOON AS I REACHED 45 MPH. IT JUMPED UP TO 100MPH & WAS INACCURATE FOR THE REST OF MY RIDE. I CALLED MY DEALER & I KNOW IT WILL BE TAKEN CARE OF RIGHT AWAY BUT I BELONG TO A GROUP ONLINE OF ONLY SOFTAIL SLIM OWNERS & SEVERAL HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. GETTING IT REPLACED WITH THE SAME SPEEDO JUST TO HAVE THAT ONE GO BAD ALSO. A FEW OWNERS GOT UPGRADES FREE & SOME PAID THE EXTRA …

Emerging complaint spikes

Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.

This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.

No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.

Equal-age model-year comparison

Incident date is preferred when valid and no later than filing; otherwise filing date is used. Model year approximates age. Equal observation time does not adjust for sales, distance driven or reporting delays. One complaint linked to multiple model years can appear in each cohort.
