Owner report 11123946 · 2018-09-01 (September 1, 2018)

THE REAR BRAKE SYSTEM LOCKED UP AND THE WHOLE SYSTEM HAD TO BE REPLACED. ONE YEAR LATER 2017 I WAS ON MY WAY HOME FROM STURGIS AND I WAS HAVING ISSUES WITH THE FUEL SYSTEM AND CLUTCH. BROUGHT IT TO A DEALERSHIP IN DENVER, CO. WHEN THEY TOOK IT FOR A TEST RIDE, IT WAS BROUGHT BACK IN THE BED OF A TRUCK WITH THE REAR BRAKE SYSTEM LOCKED UP AGAIN!

ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS MY REAR BRAKE HAS LOCKED UP WHILE I WAS RIDING. IT CAUSED THE BIKE TO BOG DOWN AND STOP. THE BIKE WAS THEN UNABLE TO MOVE. THE ROTOR WARPED FROM THE EXTREME HEAT AND THE BRAND NEW BRAKE PADS WERE NON EXISTENT. I WAS ABLE TO MANEUVER THE BIKE OUT OF TRAFFIC BUT IT TOOK A LOT OF WORK TO DO IT. I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE WHOLE REAR BRAKE SYSTEM. THE SECOND TIME HAPPENED TO A HARLEY DAVIDSON TECH THAT WAS TEST RIDING MY BIKE FOR A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT REASON. THEY HAD TO BRING MY BIKE BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP WITH A TOW TRUCK…

Emerging complaint spikes

Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.

This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.

No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.

Equal-age model-year comparison

Model-wide cumulative reports during the first three or five calendar years, starting with the model year (age 0). Only fully elapsed windows are compared.

Incident date is preferred when valid and no later than filing; otherwise filing date is used. Model year approximates age. Equal observation time does not adjust for sales, distance driven or reporting delays. One complaint linked to multiple model years can appear in each cohort.
