I own a 2020 Harley-Davidson Road Glide equipped with keyless ignition, where the motorcycle is started using the right handlebar run/stop switch. The ignition switch on the triple tree remains installed and is used only for the fork lock. The motorcycle can be started and operated while the ignition switch is in the fork lock position. Vehicle went into limp mode after loss of power. This in turn forced a ECM reboot before vehicle would run at normal operations speeds. Original fix from dealer was to repair wires that had rubbed and shorted out the ECM. This was after maybe four months of owning vehicle and after it had done it on two trips where I had to have vehicle towed as I was out of town. Recently after supposed fix, at approximately 11,230 miles, the vehicle has the same issue in which it would flash all the lights and go into limp mode. This time was especially prob…

The fork lock does not fully engage unless the handlebars are turned fully to the left. This creates a condition where the motorcycle can be ridden with the fork lock partially engaged. While riding, if the hand…

Emerging complaint spikes

Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.

This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.

No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.

Equal-age model-year comparison

Model-wide cumulative reports during the first three or five calendar years, starting with the model year (age 0). Only fully elapsed windows are compared.

Got caught in bad rain and both speedo and tach filled up with water. Bike completely shut down on highway doing 60mph (70 mph highway) and if I did not pull in on clutch, bike would have went down and I could have possibly lost my life. I believe a less experienced rider would have not been so fortunate. It is clear this is a manufacture defect as the seal on these gauges are minimal or undervalued for the part. I was given no advance warning this was going to fail and I do not try to ride in rain or any type of weather. This bike has been gar…

During a ride my speedometer/tachometer failed due to water intrusion. From what I have seen this is a very common issue. When this happened it caused me to loose my ABS, loss all other gauges. This was a huge saefty concern as I could not monitor anything and could have been potentially dangerous or deadly! This is a huge safety concern that I feel like harley is brushing under the rug! They need to offer some sort of support or repair for this before it claims someones life not mention the passengers life. Very serious issue that they are wil…

FINALLY GOT THE BIKE BACK AFTER 7 DAYS IN THE SHOP. I WAS ENTERING THE HIGHWAY UNDER ACCELERATION AND THE BIKE WENT INTO LIMP MODE. I MANAGED TO PULL OVER TO THE SHOULDER WITHOUT GETTING RUN OVER. CALLED THE LOCAL HD DEALER FROM THE SHOULDER. WHEN I GOT OFF THE PHONE THE BIKE STARTED NORMALLY, SO I RODE IT DIRECTLY THERE WITH THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT ON. THEY KEPT IT ALL WEEK TO REPLACE THE VEHICLE SPEED SENSOR. IT WAS DELIVERED TO MY HOUSE 7 DAYS LATER AND ROLLED INTO THE GARAGE. STARTED TO TAKE IT OUT THE NEXT MORNING. GOT ABOUT 1 MI AWAY BEF…

The bike was on motion at 50 mph, fortunately on a rural road with no traffic. There was a sudden drastic decrease in engine power and no throttle response. Trouble lights went off. Was able to safely pull over to the side of the road and turn the bike completely off. Multiple DCTs thrown. After about 10 minutes the bike restarted, throttle response resumed. I took it directly to the dealer and they said that "it happens, just watch it. If it returns, come back and we will look at it closer." I later learned that this is referred to s "limp mo…

NOTHING HAS HAPPENED TO ME, HOWEVER , HARLEY HAS BEEN HAVING TROUBLE WITH THEIR NEW MILWAUKEE EIGHT ENGINES" ( SERVICE BULLETIN , 1450 ) THE PROBLEM CENTERS AROUND AN ISSUE CALLED OIL SUMPING. THIS CAN CAUSE THE ENGINE TO MIS-DIRECT THE OIL INTO THE CRANKCASE ,MAKING THE FLYWHEEL HAVE TO TURN THROUGH THE OIL ,CAUSING THE ENGINE TO SLOW DOWN, AND/OR STALL . THIS IS A PROBLEM THAT WOULD HAPPEN AT HIGHWAY SPEED. IT HAS BEEN SHOWN TO HAPPEN ON STOCK MOTORCYCLES, AS WELL AS THOSE EQUIPPED WITH PERFORMANCE KITS FROM HARLEY. AGAIN, I HAVE NOT EXPE…

Manufacture TSB on Engine Coil wiring issue causing vehicle to stall, run on 1 cylinder or fail and cut out when operating vehicle. This should be a full recall. Many 2024 vehicles affected.

The fork lock does not fully engage unless the handlebars are turned fully to the left. This creates a condition where the motorcycle can be ridden with the fork lock partially engaged. While riding, if the hand…

MY SPEEDOMETER GAUGE (ALL GAUGES) HAS GOTTEN WET FROM RAIN AND ALL OF MY INSTRUMENTATION HAS QUIT WORKING. I HAVE NO WARNING LIGHTS, NO SPEEDOMETER, FUEL, BATTERY, NOTHING. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AS I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT SPEED I AM TRAVELLING AT OR IF THERE IS AN IMMEDIATE PROBLEM WITH MY MOTORCYCLE'S ABS, ENGINE, ETC.
