GOING DOWN THE ROAD IT WILL, WITH OUT WARNING, AUTOMATICALLY TURNS THE STEERING WHEEL TO THE LEFT. IT'S THE ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING. IT GOT ALOT WORSE. NOW IT WILL TURN THE STEERING WHEN I START THE CAR. THERE IS NO LIGHTS ON THE DASH LIKE CHECK ENGINE. IT HAPPENS WHEN IN MOTION AND STATIONARY. TURNING ALSO WAS HARD. IT WOULD STICK OR BE HARD TO STEER THEN WOULD FIGHT THE WAY YOU WANTED TO GO. HONDA HAS A OPEN CAMPAIGN ABOUT THIS PART THAT IS BAD FOR 150,000 OR 10 YEARS. BUT MY CAR HAS 94,000 AND JUST OVER 10 YEARS AND THEY WILL NOT DO ANYTHI…

Owner report 11502763 · 2023-01-20 (January 20, 2023)

After driving at highway speeds for some time >10minutes, the steering wheel exhibits a "stickiness" when moving it out of straight ahead. With some extra pressure, the steering wheel then moves, jumping into a turned position, then moving smoothly through its motion. This effect continues for the entirety of the drive. This has been occurring since last fall, but seems to be getting worse over time.

When traveling straight down the road, most noticeably at interstate speeds, the car will start to drift ever so slightly in one direction. You start adding steering angle to go straight and can feel the electric steering weight ramp up like it should. Then all of a sudden it gets light and corrects back to center, however now you are traveling in the direction the steering is pointing. The feeling is like driving on an extremely windy day where the driver has to fight the steering to keep the car going straight. However this happens at random …

The steering on the vehicle exhibits unusual resistance when on center above 40mph - sort of a 'sticking' feeling. To properly correct the vehicles lane position at Hwy speeds, driver needs both hands. To move the steering in these situations requires significantly more torque than normal, and when you have applied enough torque, the steering will suddenly move, making it easy to overcorrect.

I was commuting to work when my engine experienced catastrophic failure and was stuck on the interstate. Prior to this, the engine was making audible "ticking" sounds which are indicative of rod bearing failure. This happens from poorly lubricated parts and is a direct result of Honda of America requiring 0w-20 oil in its direct injected earth dreams motors. These earth dream engines have had a proven reputation for having oil dilution problems that cause catastrophic engine failure since 2016. Other subsidiaries of Honda around the world recom…

The steering goes from being quite difficult to make minor adjustments to overreacting, causing me to ping pong side to side on the highway. This issue is magnified with the use of Lane Keep Assist, which cannot keep me centered on the road. This is a major issue. Above roughly 50mph, the steering wheel “sticks” to a centered/neutral position, and requires a light amount of force to initiate movement to the left or right. This results in degraded ability to maintain lane position, and the driver constantly fighting overcorrections. If the issue becomes worse over time, it could potentially lead to hazardous swerving or oscillation at highway speeds. The condition was first observed around 15,000 miles, and has persisted through 25,000 miles. On 14 Oct 2023, I took the vehicle into a Honda dealer for a…

Steering has been extremely sticky at all speeds but it is more prevalent at higher speeds. The steering wheel is unable to be centered and jerks from side to side as opposed to moving smoothly due to the stickiness. As a driver, this makes highway and other driving unsafe as it is impossible to center the vehicle on the road. No warning lamps have been triggered and the dealership says nothing is wrong. However, this is a very common issue in 2022 and newer Honda Civics, all models.
