Owner report 10449506 · 2012-02-27 (February 27, 2012)

I HAD DRIVEN A COUPLE MILES, CAME TO A RED TRAFFIC LIGHT AND STOPPED. I RETURNED THE MOTORCYCLE TO NEUTRAL AND WAITED FOR THE LIGHT TO CHANGE. WHEN THE LIGHT CHANGED, I SHIFTED INTO FIRST GEAR, WENT TO TAKE OFF, THROTTLED AND EASED OUT ON THE CLUTCH. THE BIKE DID NOT RESPOND AS I LET OUT ON THE CLUTCH. AT THIS POINT THE MOTORCYCLE TYPICALLY IS ALREADY ACCELERATING AND IT WAS NOT. WITHIN A SECOND IT TOOK OFF AS IF SOMETHING SUDDENLY RELEASED AND ROSE INTO A WHEELIE. THE BIKE THEN LANDED 3 TIMES ON TOP OF ME AND DRAGGED ME THROUGH THE INTER…

MOTORCYCLE WAS DRIVEN TO THE LOCAL DEALER FOR RECALL INSPECTION FOR THE REAR BRAKE CYLINDER. DEALER PERFORMED INSPECTION AND INFORMED ME THAT THE MOTORCYCLE PASSED INSPECTION AND COULD BE PICKED UP. APPROXIMATELY 1 MILE AFTER DEPARTING THE DEALERSHIP THE MOTORCYCLE BEGAN FEELING SLUGGISH AND I PULLED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. Owner report 11549329 · 2023-10-11 (October 11, 2023)

Many Honda Goldwings are known to have what owners call a stumble in engine performance which happens as the engine temperature is warming up. This does not happen when the engine is still cold, or once the engine reaches normal operating temperature. This stumble becomes a safety problem when operating the vehicle at slow engine speed and making a turn. On a motorcycle the operator depends on engine response to help control the vehicle. If the engine stumbles while making a turn it increases the chance of the operator losing their balance and …

THE CYCLE HAS A FRONT END WOBBLE AT SPEEDS BETWEEN 35-45. IT REQUIRES THAT BOTH HANDS ARE KEPT ON THE HANDLEBARS TO AVOID A CRASH. IF I LET GO WITH ONE HAND THE WOBBLE INCREASES. I THINK THE WOBBLE INCREASES THE WEAR ON THE FRONT TIRE AND CAN ALSO CONTRIBUTE TO DAMAGE OF OTHER ITEMS. IT IS ALWAYS UNCOMFORTABLE ESPECIALLY GOING AROUND CORNERS WHERE I HAVE TO FIGHT THE WOBBLE WITH BOTH HANDS. THE FRONT TIRE WAS CHANGED AND THE STEERING BEARINGS CHECKED FOR TIGHTNESS. ALL AT MY COST AND THE CYCLE STILL WOBBLES. *TR

THIS DID NOT HAPPEN ON MY 2008 GOLDWING AND IT DID NOT HAPPEN ON THE 2010 GOLDWING UNTIL AFTER THEY DID THE RECALL ON THE BRAKES. AFTER THE RECALL IT STARTED DOING IT. This vehicle has a chronic issue with an unreliable parking brake. The brake is required to be engaged each time the motorcycle is parked since the motorcycle automatically puts it into neutral when the back is turned off. The ceases to hold the bike in place even on minimal inclines because of poor design. The brake requires replacement and/or adjusting every few months and is not reliable. I've had it replaced twice now in less than 1-year, and the Honda dealer will not cover the cost ($350) even though the motorcycle is under manufacturi…

With less than 10k miles I have excessive tire cupping. Upon a deep dive inspection of the motorcycle I found the bolts to the upper control arm coming loose/ backing out. Excessive amount of threads showing on all 4 corners of the control arm. I Contact the dealer, who informed me that this is normal. I have a 2023 Honda Goldwing/DCT which is a 7 speed motorcycle. On the highway traveling around 70 miles per hour in heavy traffic the bike just dies and it will just coast to a stop. You can not restart the bike because it is locked in 7th gear. Twice I had to have the biked towed to a Honda dealer. I called Honda and they said they have not heard of this problem. If they go on You tube they can see where other riders are having the same problem. I left my bike in at Honda dealer 2 weeks ago and they are waiting for some guidance from Honda.…

2024 Honda Gold Wing GL1800DR Tour fails to detect the keyfob intermittently. The vehicle does not require a standard key to start, unlock or closing/opening the paniers, except for emergency situation and requires at that time a sequence to be followed. For this, it requires that you have the fob in your person while operating the motorcycle. The concerns around the fob/remote is that it looses communication with the vehicle intermittently, inhibiting access, say, to ignition start button or properly closing paniers/top case. The case of t…

*TR

Emerging complaint spikes

Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.

This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.

No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.

Equal-age model-year comparison

Model-wide cumulative reports during the first three or five calendar years, starting with the model year (age 0). Only fully elapsed windows are compared.
