Recall history

1 distinct campaigns affect this selection. Announcement dates below are different from vehicle model years. A campaign may cover multiple years.

15V439000 · Electrical System:Starter Assembly:Relay

Reported: 2015-07-08 (July 8, 2015) · Model years: 2014, 2015, 2016

Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain model year 2013-2015 ST1300PA, 2014-2015 CB500, CBR500, CRF250L, CBR650, CTX700, NSS300, VT750, VT1300, 2015 CB300F, CBR300, CBR600, and 2014-2016 NC700 motorcycles. In the affected motorcycles, sealant may have been incorrectly applied to the starter relay switch, and as a result, the electrical system may have a loss of power.

Consequence: A loss of electrical power may cause an engine stall, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Honda will notify owners, and dealers will replace any affected starter relay switch, free of charge. The recall began on August 31, 2015. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-866-784-1870. Honda's number for this recall is JS9 and JT0.

2013 HONDA NC700XDA, 13,000 MI: MY MOTORCYCLE IS UNUSUAL IN THAT IT'S AN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. I CAME OUT OF THE GYM, STARTED MY MOTORCYCLE, PULLED OUT INTO TRAFFIC AND IT WOULD NOT SHIFT OUT OF FIRST GEAR. TRAFFIC FROM BEHIND HAD TO SWERVE AROUND ME BECAUSE I WAS UNABLE TO ACCELERATE FASTER THAN 25 MI/HR AND UNABLE TO PULL OFF THE ROAD. I'VE OWNED THIS MOTORCYCLE FOR SINCE APRIL 2015; I KNOW AND UNDERSTAND ALL THE DIFFERENT MODES OF SHIFTING. I HAD TO RIDE HOME 6 MILES AT 20 MI/HR GETTING ON/OFF ROAD TO AVOID TRAFFIC FROM BEHIND. THE TRIP METER, "TRIP A", RANDOMLY RESETS. THIS FIRST WAS NOTICED SHORTLY AFTER I PURCHASED THE MOTORCYCLE AND AROUND 915 MILES. "TRIP A" HAD ONLY 58 MILES INDICATED WHILE "TRIP B", WHICH WAS RESET AT THE SAME TIME AS "TRIP A" READ 148 MILES. THIS HAS OCCURRED SPORADICALLY SINCE. THE VEHICLE NOW HAS 3958 MILES. THE LAST DISCREPANCY WAS NOTED AT 3688 MILES. *TR

PLEASE REFER TO MY ORIGINAL COMPLAINT NUMBER OF 11217973 IN WHICH I DIDN'T LIST THE PROBLEM UNDER THE NC700 CATEGORY AND MISTAKENLY LISTED IT AS THE HONDA NM4 (COMMON NAME FOR THIS MOTORCYCLE). Emerging complaint spikes

Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.

This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.

No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.

Equal-age model-year comparison

Model-wide cumulative reports during the first three or five calendar years, starting with the model year (age 0). Only fully elapsed windows are compared.

Incident date is preferred when valid and no later than filing; otherwise filing date is used. Model year approximates age. Equal observation time does not adjust for sales, distance driven or reporting delays. One complaint linked to multiple model years can appear in each cohort.
